StingingVelvet: Just wait until all games are a subscription, no matter what style of game they are. Hell, just wait for Windows to be a subscription.
Y'all be laughing but the publishers be hatin'

Prydeless: I haven't played Tetris since my I got my old Gameboy a decade and a half ago, but I fail to see what sort of new content they could add to it... Reskinned blocks? Different game modes? Minecraft mode?!
If you added a different game mode, would the game really be tetris then? I can see them having variations of tetris, but the game will still be putting blocks together to get the most points.

orcishgamer: The sub part is probably so you can use social features to "beat your friends", you'd be surprised how much the casual crowd gets cracked out on that kind of thing.
But how horrifically could EA really beat my friends for a mere $30/year?

You'd be surprised what a methhead will do for even 5 bucks. That's a 25 dollar profit for EA right there.
Oh, goodie! I'll get a discount on the Line Block DLC! :D
There are a ridiculous amount of chumps who game on mobile devices. People pay to buy chips for poker apps that aren't worth any real money. It's absurd. You can't expect companies to not jump on that money train.

Titanium: THE Tetris? The one that came from Soviet Russia?

BWAHAHAAHAHAAAA!!!
In Soviet Russia*, Tetris plays you.

*and EA, apparently.

Isn't a game mode just a variation of the game? Like CoH, where TOV introduced Stonewall, Panzerkrieg, etc.
I consider the only "Real" tetris games are the ones who have Traditional Russian songs in them

Every else is just a cheap imitation
To be fair, they must have figured "Those idiotic Apple users pay $500+ a year for an overrated and underequiped phone so they must be willing to pay $30 for our game!"
*Pause Game*
Go to EA store
Buy Line Block for $0.99
*Resume Game*

To be even more fair, since capitalism began they have figured "hey, most people are pretty stupid."
i loled
Do they not even have big, International Tetris championships and Grand Prix where the best players can win their money back with healthy interest?
It would be worth it then - for them freaky Tetris robot types anyway!

*shrugs* I wouldn't be too disparaging - I think that kind of thing taps into the same desire kids had back in the arcades to get their names on the high score tables, back where gaming began!
