I'm curious to see the interface, could someone PM me an insult - the more inventive the better.
Ah, but look, I *can* block people before they send me a message. I need to click on "PM", it'll take me to the page where I can write that user a message, but then I can click on "Options" and "Block and Report". No need to PM or be PMed to do that, although I had to *pretend* I was PMing that user.

So, Tulivu you were "Blocked and Reported", at least for a few seconds. I unblocked you soon after. I hope the "Report" part didn't cost you Rep, games, money or a warning from GOG. ;)

iuliand: Think of the "conversations" list as being your "friends" list... :)
avatar
cogadh: Not really the same thing at all, though I suppose it can function like that. It's still too awkward too "add" people to the "friends list" the way they have it set up now.
You add them by saying "hey, I added you in my conversations (buddy) list" :)
avatar
Tulivu: If anyone wants to test blocking a sender I can send you a messege that offends you to the core and makes you feel dirty on the inside... unless your interested ;)
I just noted after blocking you I can still PM you. Did you get that? (I suppose you can't reply me because you're "Blocked and Reported" again, but you're free to try that too)

I guess if one blocks someone they can still send the blocked person messages.

No, I mean how you have to find a post by the person on the forums, then click the PM button in that post to add them. It would be much easier to just have a user list, instead of having to hunt down some random post. It's fine if you are taking a conversation from a particular thread into "privacy mode", but what if you just want to contact someone that you aren't currently conversing with in a thread?
It's strange why they choose to put together block and report because maybe I want to block someone without reporting or the other way around.

Maybe Gog could add a feature to type in a username to send to or add to the friends list in the PM area?
A couple of insults receive thankyou guys.

I'm dissapointed by the hidden nature of it, I was expecting a more MSN style "toast" popup to say I had a message.

Yes, even that would be a huge improvement over the current method.

JudasIscariot: Is it the height of bad manners to ask for additional features in a freshly-coded product??
avatar
Tarm: No no no. It's the perfect time because they haven't forgotten how they coded it yet. ;)
This. As a developer, let me assure you that six months from now, noone at GOG can remember how the blasted thing works ;-)

The internal monolog usually goes something like this:

"Okay, lemme see. Where the hell is that function implemented? Is it this file? What an illogical name! Anyway, where is it... Hmm, must be this one. Now what exactly does it do... What? This can't be right. This cannot possibly ever have worked! Who the hell coded this? How can I be expected to debug stuff when people write crap code like this? There's not a single comment, and the whole thing is one big hack! Who the hell made this? Oh wait, I remember now. It was me, wasn't it? Damn..."

True. It adds some style points though to not only be blocked but reported as well.

Yep, I got it. Good video, too. It just says that you don't want any messges.

You just asked for something that probably will flood you with PMs :)

Good to know. I unblocked you for that, which will make it possible for you the joy of PMing me again. No need to thank me.

I'm really not that popular. No-one would PM me unless they had reason to, if necessary I can turn on a GameRager level of belligerence, with far more creativity in the insults.

However the notifications are really discreet, it would be nice if we could at least specify we wanted a big sign popping up.
