This topic is just about an idea that came to me when I noticed the GoG-Galaxy news.

As some of you might know, Atari has sold most of it's IP:

Quote:
"Assets Minimum Bid Date of Auction
RollerCoaster Tycoon Franchise $3,500,000 July 16, 2013
Test Drive Franchise $1,500,000 July 16, 2013
Humongous Franchise, Fatty's Bear's Birthday $500,000 July 17, 2013
Surprise, Math Gran Prix
Backyard Sports Franchise $750,000 July 17, 2013
Total Annihilation Franchise $250,000 July 17, 2013
Airborne Ranger Franchise $100,000 July 18, 2013
Battlezone Franchise $250,000 July 18, 2013
Master of Orion Franchise $100,000 July 18, 2013
Moonbase Commander Franchise $100,000 July 18, 2013
Star Control Franchise $100,000 July 18, 2013
Atari Brand / Atari Classics / Atari Casino $15,000,000 July 19, 2013"

Most of these titles have been bought by more or less large studios, but as far as I know the Test Drive IP never found a bidder. The multiplayer part of Test Drive 1 was shut down a while ago what made me really sad. TDU 2 was a nice game but never that good as TDU 1 was (to me).

I asked myself, what has happened to this IP and why doesn't GoG try to get this "Good old Game"s IP completely including the online part, making it available for players who would like to run private servers or add it to the upcoming GoG Galaxy service as an exclusive game?!

I'd pay at least 20-30 $ for a DRM free TDU version including server files. Anyone else who misses this gem as much as me and would pay a second time? It would be nice, if you would share your mind about this.
I love TDU and it would be awesome to have it here - MP or not. But it runs like crap since I upgraded my machine - unplayable stutter - and I've not yet found a solution. To get the IP rights might be one thing - reliably getting it to work properly another.

But if you have any hints...
I have it on 360 and its an awesome game, the sequel iirc also contains the first island, I have really fond memories of my Shelby Cobra DC tearing around the island :)

Yes, but the sequel has rubberband "AI".

I haven't played it, I just remember my son mentioned something about the first island being included :)

I might be wrong but most of my problems with stuttering or rubberbanding AI was solved after disabling vertical sync. What OS do you have on your new machine?
My benchmark racing game is still NFS Porche (made by the same people who later made TDU). TDU's fun though... The buy house/clothes/etc stuff irritated me, and I don't remember there being any car tinkering. I like a little tinkering (but not a lot).
hoping for eventual 4D Sports = Stunts reboot. The track editor was/is best ever.

Win7/64. I think I already tried this. And runfirst (use only one core). And locking that infamous folder (while this problem was supposedly fixed in one of the patches). And disabling force feedback.

Same here. It's a must have game. I bought TDU2 a few weeks ago. I don't think it's as good as TDU1, but I was really surprised to drive Lancia Delta integrale HF as my 1st vehicle, one of my favorite cars.

I'm running it on the same OS without any trouble. Driver issue?

Possible. There is another game that has this issue: X2
