i don't think that's what he meant, also, please if you're quoting someone who quoted something, please, try to cut that persons post out, as your reply was no where near directed at me, DRMLESSGAMES
I can see how you would get bored with it, but there were a vast amount of games that I played at that time which were made in a similar fashion.
The Elite/Frontier series, Diablo, Mordor, etc.
So I guess I may be more attuned to it. I also played them as they were released, and in order, although I only ever managed to complete Oblivion! (the others are tough... too tough for me back then!)
Arena for me was the best, no preconceptions about what it was, just a really well made dungeon crawler.

drmlessgames: So you say that L4D is another mess?

Oh sod off. You might as well ask if I think all RPGs are a mess, since they all use random numbers in their gameplay calculations.
Yes that's right, I just fought straw with straw.

But his first argument was not a straw man argument...I also thought you were talking about randomly generated maps/levels, NOT randomly generated numbers. They are two slightly different parts of games, my friend. Your particular beef with Daggerfall seems to be its "randomly generated filler". The Director in L4D does just that, so I think it was reasonable to bring that up as a counterpoint.
If you disagree with it, fine. But use a valid argument and don't accuse others of using fallacious arguments when they clearly aren't.
Left 4 Dead has exactly zero randomly-generated levels.
Anyway, my problem isn't the simple fact that Daggerfall has some randomly-generated content (though it sucks), it's that it hardly has anything else. L4D works because its randomness is within strongly defined parameters, and is just enough to add a layer of chaos and unpredictability to an otherwise simplistic game. With Daggerfall, this ratio is inverted.

Thank you, you did understand. Though i havent played daggerfall, i dont believe its randomness makes a boring, dry gaming adventure. Maybe its bugs will, but not its random nature.

The random nature of Daggerfall is why I like it. It might make some cities bland, but Daggerfall is pretty much all about the dungeons. Amazingly enormous, random dungeons that can take hours to clear out. It also have my favorite character creation system, though it's somewhat exploitable, but it's your choice to use the exploits or not, and it's more a problem with bugs than the system it self.

Already voted for everything Elder Scrolls related including Redguard and Battle Spire. I never got to play those games when they came out and I would like to try them.
One of the major advantages of the randomness is the city life. When you visit a city, it can be huge, with plenty of people wandering around, and plenty of places to go for quests and the like.

I think I did vote for all of them some time ago. I've got every TES game though, so I don't really need it, but it would be convenient with a GoG version.

You don't have a Best Buy or Gamestop in Kansas??? Because that's where I found my copy of Morrwind GOTY...

evmiller: I agree, but we'll likley see Arena here first as a freebee before we see the others. Daggerfall and Morrowind were developed with licensed technology and I'm told that this greatly increased the difficulty of getting a DRM free deal out of Bethsoft.

What license technology was in daggerfall? Daggerfall used their own in-studio developed engine, the X-ngine, and was going to be used in Morrowind right before being replaced by Gamebryo.
Daggerfall would be an awesome choice, and it seems like that game was developed for a service like GOG. I mean, it's one of the good old games of the DOS era, it has a very annoying copy protection scheme which only annoys those who are able to buy it and try to install it on their computers, nowadays, and scammers make a fortune by selling expensive copies of it on the auction sites.

Okay, there you go. I voted for them all, except TES IV because I am currently playing it. :)
