Export: Ouch... I remember when Steam used to use USD for everything, like GOG does now. It's a shame it changed.

lackoo1111: Those days are over . As i posted on the steam forums : Steam is the pioneer of the $1=1€ crap .
Well it seems more to do with the publishers who want their games to maintain typical regional pricing despite it being an archaic system that has no justification when it's being digitally distributed. Even GOG charged a universal price for TW2 and had to make up the difference by offering store credit. The fact they wanted to charge fair prices but couldn't shows you that it's not as simple as the online retailer charging what they like.

Hawk52: Terraria isn't all roses though. Multiplayer is broken by all accounts, and won't even work unless you use LAN (or LAN emulation software). On top of that, the guide character, while a good idea is a sonofabitch who'll wander around, open doors, and in general do everything in his power to make your life hell. He's immortal (or exceedingly hard to kill), so he doesn't care at all if he lets zombies or demon eyes into your home. In a multiplayer game with a friend, we ended up trapping him in one section of our house to keep him from screwing everything up.
Didn't hear about/notice any problems with Internet multiplayer, I hosted a game with two other friends over the Internet yesterday and we had an euphoric blast for several hours - there is a known crash when you hit back on the Options screen after changing resolution or something, and there was a Windows DEP warning thing as I exit the server instance of the game at the end of the night, but besides that and a little bit of lag, multiplayer worked just fine. A lot better than Minecraft's initial implementation of multiplayer, and nothing crashed or gave any other problem through the evening.

And yeah we dug a hole below our floor, waited until the guy wandered in, then sealed him in with stone. :P He did manage to teleport out though the same time that our shopkeeper NPC finally arrived.

And what about the indie developers ?

Well that I can't comment on. This game was actually priced properly for Britain so it's not like Valve were just "NO, WE WANT MORE MONEY". I really have no idea why the Eurozone would get shafted while the UK would get away with it.

UK only has one letter difference to US, and they won't get away with setting a much-too-high price for the US so they probably do that to be on the safe side. EU has the U last, so it's easier to see the difference. And AU has the same difference to EU (only one letter), so they get shafted as well.

*shrug* I dunno, that explanation seems as likely as anything else.

... The player characters look like sprites from Final Fantasy. They even have similar attack animations.

I'm interested, but I need to play a demo first.

I played the *cough* pira.. *cough* demo *cough* *cough* for five minutes and it was definitely cute. But the bug where you can't even change any of the settings without it crashing (real issue) is annoying.
I don't want to play it in Windowed mode and you can't change the resolution so you can't make it almost full-screen either.. assuming it wouldn't crash after trying to change that.
But they only started programming in January so it's not that strange that it's buggy.

Again (new page), if any US/UK resident wants to buy a 4-pack I'm in.

That was fixed with the patch that just rolled in.

Awesome, nice fast development on the update as well.
Now all I need is for someone to buy the 4-pack (and allow me to get 1 copy).
playing this lol although its only 16mb in size the game is huge and fun
although the multiplayer part is a bit harsh on newcomers , i would suggest using hamachi to play with others
Anyone who's bought this, can you tell me whether the game can run without Steam running? A few games can and I'm hoping this is one of them (because then I can back it up).

You seem unfamiliar with the way it works (and has for a few years). Valve calculate our prices using a real exchange rate and then round them to make it a pretty number (e.g. £5.99). In Europe, Valve changes the $ to a € and then wanders off to screw someone else over.

I can tell you that it works without steam because I was running it at work without steam while my PC at home was logged in downloading The Witcher 2 from steam. (I have 2 copies of The Witcher 2, one from GOG and one from Steam)

That's excellent news, just what I was hoping to hear.

Is anyone interested in getting together to buy a 4 pack?
The UK has the lowest price, so it makes sense for me (or another UKer) to do the buying.

<.<

Yes. At the UK price for a 4 pack (£17.99) it works out at ~£4.50/$7.27/€5.11 each.
That's vs £5.99/$9.99/€9.99 for the normal price bought in the respective countries. It's almost 50% off for Euro peoples...
