keeveek: What's the hotkey to turn off the minimap? :P

LAAAME :P
The hotkey is "tab" ;p

Darvond: That doesn't quite make sense. That'd be like building a house with a single tap and insisting that all water come from it and you can't install more fixtures.
avatar
Fenixp: Well I suppose they're getting enough revenue from Steam version that they don't want to worry about supporting others. It's been made quite clear by other devs on GOG that supporting both Steam and GOG version is not quite as simple as it might seem.
I understand that, but I don't see how this could affect their income too severely.
avatar
KneeTheCap: Well you can always buy it on steam? It's your choice. You want to play, you need to abide their rules.
avatar
Wishbone: They want my money? They need to abide by my rules.

If they really actually needed the game to be available in one place only, I can see why they went with Steam. But why they so far have insisted on the "one place only" policy is beyond me. I would have expected the game to show up in at least the Humble store by now, but no! Steam-ONLY!

I guess they have more money than they know what to do with, and don't actually need or want more sales.
It's not Steam only, it's on the PSN, XBL, and it's free on Android...

Anyways, this patch, what does it bring? i've got 30 hours in but havn't touched it in a while so what's it got for me? where be the patch notes?

See the first post.

The PSN / XBL / Android ports are apparently -behind- this version and will need to be updated.

I played a lot of Terraria and so far it's had several biomes added, it now rains or snows, there's a lot of new enemies and variants of the old ones too.

First the console, ios and android versions are done by a different company 505 studios and they have a development studio who handles the actual work on those version(engine software) so Andrew/Redigit doesn't have to worry about those he just ships the code and all that over to them to port over.

as for what the patch brings, alot over 450 new items including a biome altering gun which allows you to convert any existing biome to any other of your choice so long as you are using the right kind of ammo, 4 or so new npcs, over 5 new bosses, new biomes including a alternative biome to corruption called the Crimson you have a 50/50 chance of getting one or the other when starting a new world you can find out which one during world gen as it will say either Making the world evil or making the world bloody complete with different mobs such as zombie type mobs, wall crawling spiders as well as it's own unique boss called the Brain of Cthulu which reminds me of that ghost boss in the wrecked ship area from Super Metroid, changes to existing biomes such as the dungeon and the underground jungle which not only been redesigned but now have hardmode versions with new mobs and hardmode bosses for them also hell got revamped as well and the snow biome was also fleshed out and now has ice caves, water freezes over and creates slick ice paths and ponds will have a thin ice layer that will crack under pressure, tons of existing sprites got redone and look much better, there are alternative ores for both pre and post hardmode so instead of always having copper, iron, silver, gold, demonite and such you can now find lead, tin, platinum, crimsonite, and so on since it's random you usually have a mix of both old and new ores and each have there own different stats there is also a item that will convert silt to various ores and gems, teleporters, climbing ropes and chains, revamped wiring system, and so on.

Honestly I could be here all day going over what I know of the update and still miss a ton since it's still unknown/not found by players yet.

That's insane. I envy people who haven't even touched the game and plan on playing.

Like me, if we get a GOG release?

Don't pretend you don't know what I mean. I can't very well buy the PC version on PSN, now can I?

Yes but it still might take some time before it arrives here.

That's fine, I was willing to wait 200+ days after signing up here for Avernum to grace the collections.
Wow so I've put in at least 2 hours within the last 2 days (which is really good for me) and there's soooo much new stuff. It's pretty much a brand new game and all free? Remarkable!

Indeed. I played an hour or so yesterday to see if I could find anything interesting. I found a claw accessory item, it makes you able to slide on walls and if you're quick you wall jump. Incredibly useful. The new rope system is also awesome, no more excessive wooden platforming here.

For once when I started this one I also began digging south in a straight line from where you spawn when you start or die, that way it's easy access to a shaft to where you need to go especially if you put water in a 4x1 square radius at the end of it so when you fall you won't die.

Was someone running out of games to play in the meantime? I know I am not. :) And I am quite confident I will survive even if I never play Terraria, just like I've survived without playing so many other games I've never bought.

According to my wishlist, I'm looking at about two titles I'm interested in, and one title I might purchase today.
