bela555: finally an update, and it is a good update to terraria.
but i dont understand why my steam client doesn't update the game,oO
avatar
Darvond: Apparently you're supposed to close and open the client, then try.
nothing, but i started the game and have minimap, so it is the new version

Crispy78: If they're selling on multiple platforms I guess it matters less to them that they're only selling from one source on a given platform.
avatar
Darvond: That doesn't quite make sense. That'd be like building a house with a single tap and insisting that all water come from it and you can't install more fixtures.
If they only sold on PC, yes. But with Terraria, the 'house' also has an XBox Live 'room' with a single tap in it, and a Playstation Network 'room', and an Android 'room', and so on. Lots of places to get your 'water' from...

Those are optional extras, and not everyone has them.

nijuu: Doesn't anyone find it strange this game hasn't been bundled at all?
avatar
Darvond: To be honest, no. To break exclusivity or be included in a bundle would essentially be a catch 22.
Terraria doesn't seem to have been bundled indeed, thanks to you all for correcting me.

Then, I'm not a big fan of bundles and I can't say I really keep track of which games have been bundled or not . I bought a bundle once, the psychonauts one, several months ago. I felt paying the minimum price for the bundle was wrong, so I paid 30€ .... and I felt bad afterward nonetheless, not sure why.
So .... I have mixed feelings about bundles. It's a good way to make extra sales for a title in its "end of life" phase (I know, we goglodytes don't beleive a game can die, it just get older and older ;) ), but selling a game in a bundle also feels like publicly saying that it is not worth much anymore. Which is not the case with Terraria.

Bottom line, Terraria has been a great alternative to Minecraft. It has a ton of replay value and many 'playstyles', so it certainly doesn't need a bundle to get famous or sell (more). I understand why the devs didn't bundle it.

Multiple taps are also optional. It's just that first world countries' houses are much more inclusive of them than others.
I've found 3 new ores after 10 minutes of playing, there's new a background and some new soundtrack too. I love the new mini-map they added, that will surely come to aid in case you play in a medium or large world.

The Terraria folder used to be about 20MB without any redist files, it's now around 38MB. This was quite the update, pity I don't really feel like I will have time to actually play for now and the game crashes when I try to enter fullscreen.
Well I did well to avoid stuff when it got a firm release date, did not realise one biom was a drop in replacement for the corruption. Right now what I really want is a locksmith npc!

Pemptus: It stands strong on its own, apparently. Good for them.
Strong enough that it got a physical retail release on PS3 in Japan. Very few indie games manage that.
I'm trying to verify cache integrity, but I get an error message. Anyone else having this problem?

edit: Uhm, scratch it, it says 1.2 on the title screen so I guess everything is fine

\/ Keeveek, I think you have to disable it on the Settings

I have no confirmation if I try that...
new mushroom oO :D
Just a heads up, Terraria is 50% off on Xbox Live for a week for those who might want to play it on console.

Well I suppose they're getting enough revenue from Steam version that they don't want to worry about supporting others. It's been made quite clear by other devs on GOG that supporting both Steam and GOG version is not quite as simple as it might seem.
