Thanks for sharing. The issue I'm having with them is very annoying but I'm frankly quite shocked at their scummy behaviour towards you (and all the other adventure bundle customers).

Pidgeot: Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing your name there...

The 2 months of complete silence didn't help them, or the fact that they practically admitted it was prioritized lower because not many users were impacted (that would be fine for a minor, cosmetic bug that was easily worked around, but not with a game breaking bug like this was).
The other thing which just came back to me... when they finally came up with a fix it was Steam only for a while (maybe a couple of weeks or more). When it finally arrived on their own site it turned out to be a cracked Steam version in an installer (as a small consolation that meant that there was an official DRM-free version then).

Holy fuckballs, that is awful.

The fact that Telltale didn't make any of the games in the bundle actually just makes it worse IMO - they were just a distributor, which means there should be even less reason to do this.

Oh yes, I was the one who posted that to the thread at the time (page 26).

I have no idea if they ever uploaded the "proper" copy, and I never tried to compare the files, so *maybe* they just disabled Steam for their own build and forgot to re-enable their launcher. (Not that it matters now.)

Small world!

SirPrimalform: Got another cut and paste reply that doesn't actually really respond to my last email to them.
"I've looked up your account, and it appears that you purchased the digital version"
Have they been selling the physical copies separately? Haven't used their site in years, but I was under the impression it was always digital downloads they'd been selling, with the DVDs as "bonuses" You could get by paying for shipping, not something you could buy on its own. If that's the case, that response makes no sense... but I'm probably just unaware. I hope.

HypersomniacLive: I was foolish enough to buy The Great Adventure Bundle 2010 (but I had a completely different impression of this company back then) which was pulled from our accounts some time around last October, IIRC. To understand how big of a deal this is, that bundle sold close to 20,000 copies, IIRC.

When I inquired about it their support replied by saying that their license for some of the games had expired, they gave me a cdn link to download one other game and pointed me to their ToS about "digital products purchased through our site are licensed and not sold".
Oy vey. Again, with no prior notice or warning at all? With this kind of attitude, there's no point in buying anything from them without those DVDs.

Well, there go my "rose tinted TTG glasses".

Yeah, it's cases like this I wish we weren't just the little man that can do next to nth to force these companies to take responsibility.
I suspect that their own fans didn't protest hard because the games that are missing are exactly those that were not made by Telltale.

Scummy indeed. One of my points that got completely ignored was that since they received money for those games we should retain the right to download them via our accounts, even after the company has no right anymore to sell them to new customers. And more so if we were to go by their ToS that they kept shoving up my face, since it doesn't state any time limit for downloads and more importantly that they can and will pull games in cases of expired licenses.

The only thing that's keeping me calm, is that I do have the missing games (with the exception of Penny Arcade Adventures), as well as almost all of their own adventure games DRM-free elsewhere. I sometimes wish I had a DRM-free copy of Tales of Monkey Island, but it's low on my list as I wasn't very impressed by them.

From what I remember, the way the store worked was, after the DVD came out there would be two options:

Download+DVD, this option asked for shipping when you went to the checkout.

Download only, this option wouldn't ask for shipping but entitled you to obtain the DVD later by paying shipping.

When I bought the game there was just one option, to pre-order the game. The DVD was listed as a feature and only not included because it hadn't been manufactured at that point. His answer still doesn't make a huge amount of sense (especially as a reply to the content of my previous email) but it maybe makes slightly more sense than you were thinking. ;)

To be honest, I actually feel much stronger about the Adventure Bundle/game removing thing now even though I'm less affected by it.

When the discs for a season had been released, you could buy the disc at once, though the price was the same as buying the download (shipping not included in the advertised price) - I don't remember if it was considered a bundle (game + dvd shipping) or a separate product (game on dvd, with complimentary download), as you got access to the download as well when buying the disc.

Not only was there no notice or warning, but when I contacted them about it giving them all the purchase details, the first reply that I got was kind of contesting the validity of my inquiry:
We apologize for the issue you seem to be experiencing.
It only seemed that the games were pulled - what reason would I have to ask for them if there were right there in my account?
As if that wasn't (insulting) enough, they idiotically asked me to provide more details about the email address associated with my account - I guess the details of the purchase receipt (email included) was not enough for them to figure out what I was talking about, they needed to ask again.

Nearly every email I've had from them begins with "I apologize for the inconvenience." and ends with "I apologize for any convenience caused by this.".

I'd assume their email program automatically added them or something except the wording keeps changing slightly.

Interestingly, I just got a reply and it's probably the quickest turn around time between me sending them an email and them replying. It's also more specific (but still ignores a lot of my points) and from a different person. One of the emails I've had already was from this guy but the rest were from a different guy. Anyway, sort of progress in that the reply was a lot more specific to my case.

After the exchange I had with them, I'm convinced that they have some sort of manual/ text-book they follow. The manual also contains scripted replies dependent on the issue at hand. If you bring up a point not covered by the manual, i.e. no scripted reply, they just ignore it as they have no idea what to answer without exposing the company.

That's good to hear, maybe there is some hope for your case - keeping my fingers crossed.
Hmm, I actually received a reply from them without noticing. It's sat there unread for a week now.

They finally got around to saying that they don't have any stock of the DVD left instead of just saying it was a limited time offer. Small progress.
Wrote to and got a reply from Kevin Bruner. He said that MI:SE should have been restored to my account. Interesting.
That doesn't get everyone the DVDs that we were supposed to get. :|

Why is everyone complaining... man you had years to collect the dvds... at least 4 + years for monkey island and 3 years for BTTF.

its not telltales fault you didn't collect the dvd in time...

No, but I consider the removal of games from people's accounts a much bigger injustice.

First, the thread isn't about that any more.

Secondly, in time for what? There was no limit given or implied.

Anyway, who's been talking about Monkey Island DVDs? I certainly haven't.
