lukaszthegreat: i don't think anyone is making fun of people who don't like science.
we make fun of people who are morons.
wpegg: Vestin has a good point, you just didn't read the facebook page carefully enough. If you had you would have realised that morons are relative. To me you are a moron, because I am so much smarter than you. To you I am a moron, because I think I'm smarter than you without really knowing you.
It's not wrong to question science. These people obviously are not at the pinnacle, but the attack on the concept moves science towards religion. This is just teens experimenting with challenging accepted facts. That's part of development, it's part of a good process where they may one day challenge an accepted fact that's wrong. I know, the page hints they won't,
I challenge you now - put yourself on the high-horse. Do Black-holes exist? Do you dare say? I suspect not, they had at least got the balls to venture an opinion.
You are giving them way too much credit. Did you actually it read what they wrote? It's horrible, really truly pathetic. They aren't grappling with scientific concepts and trying to figure stuff out. They're saying how stupid science is and that it isn't important, that it doesn't matter, and that since Hawking is in a wheelchair he must be a loser - that he is called smart only because he is pitied. That's what they're saying. You need to read what they wrote, again. They're cretins who are proud of their ignorance over the world, nothing more nothing less. I'm not making fun of them, I'm horrified by the baseness of their intellect and the shallowness with which they approach the world. Here are two quotes, one from the each of them:
I'd like to kick stephen hawkings frickin wheelchair over and see how smart he was about that. lol
There's a reason it's simply "theoretical," I can develop theories of my own, [note: none are presented] doesn't make me a genius/
Where on Earth do you get "kids challenging accepted facts"? They're simply shallow simpletons who are proud about their lack of comprehension.
