i want to play dishonored for pc rather then ps3, so i looked up the requirements. i have everything EXPECT a processor thats 3.0 gigahertz.

mine is 2.7,

my question is, do you guys think the game will run just fine anyway since i'm so close to what it requires?

How many cores you got?
Minimum is 3 GHz dual core.
Recommended minimum is 2.4 GHz quad core.

So if you have a quad core, it's all good.

My friend, I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 6600, which is 2.4GHz, and I can run Dishonored with no problems at all. Not at top whack mind, but its smooth enough with everything medium...

Yeah you do But I recommend getting some SERIOUS COOLING for your system first my system temp get well above 99 degrees Celsius Like some Co2 Turbo Injection systems and prehaps some liquid Nitrogen tanks or your computer will become a fireball!!

I play it all the way up on MAX Settings in 1680x1050 with a Liquid silk framerate.

But the computer gets hotter then the exposed Fukishima nuclear reactor.

My 3.6 quad runs it just fine despite it being not really top of the line from what I am told.

If you have a 3.6GHz quad core CPU, then your CPU is not the bottleneck in your system.

Someone said this was, but I don't see how, my games run fine.

Every system has a bottleneck, since it's impossible (in practice) for all the components to be "maxed out" at the same time. Years ago, the CPU was often the bottleneck (the part that other parts were waiting for), but that's rarely the case anymore, at least when it comes to games. Of course, if you're doing something that's pure calculation, such as raytracing, the CPU is probably the limiting factor, but a 3.6GHz quad core should be more than sufficient for pretty much anything. Hell, I have a 2.4GHz dual core CPU, and I don't have problems with any games either. Granted, I don't really play new AAA titles, but still.
Dishonored runs on a modified Unreal Engine 3 (Gears of War, Alice Madness Returns, Batman AA & AC, Spec Ops The Line, Brink, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2)

So look through your games and if it runs others that are UE3 then you should be fine with Dishonored.

It's not quite as simple as that, although the more games you compare, the better a sample you'll have. Still, it's not just a matter of the engine, but also very much a matter of the content. If Dishonored uses textures of a higher resolution than those other games, higher-poly models, larger and more complicated levels, more particle effects, etc., then it might still run like shit even though the others run fine.

If you compare it to a real-world engine, then it's like asking the question "If I put this engine in my car, how fast will it go?" Well, that depends on a lot of other factors than just the engine.

Yeah completely agree,

I am just trying to give him a general idea of performance, something to compare to

Dishonored runs on my system fine with maxxed out detail and 1920x1080 resolution, running a Phenom 2 Quad 3.4(965 Black Edition), 8Gb ram and also a GTX 570

Understood. I just wanted to point out that it wasn't necessarily a fail-safe approach. Still, it's probably the best he can do, if no demo of the game exists.
To add to the list - 2.20 GHz i7 and it runs very smooth.

most certainly a dual core.

Dishonored is not exactly a graphical power house (low resolution textures and average poly count) so I doubt you will have any issues. In the worst case it's an UT3 game so there are tons of tweaks that can be performed if need be.
