As a kid, I always found the topics of math questions extremely boring. When I was practicing, I always made up weird and crazy questions that I found far more entertaining.

Calculating terrorism victims _does_ go a bit too bar though. But in general I appreciate(d) anything that makes math tasks less dry.

i realise mathematics is terribly boring, especially to kids, but the examples used by that teacher are just not acceptable. i'm not big on political correctness in general, but as a teacher, particularly one for children, you have responsibilities. being professional and neutral is one of them.

Of course, it's based on a curriculum in Singapore. Have you ever seen Asian horror movies? :-) Their violence makes ours look like kiddie movies.
Many other countries are way more lax when it comes to what is "age appropriate".

The thing I really don't like about the US is that it's full of people who insist that they know better than everyone else which, to me, just creates a society full of full of people that think they're incapable of making their own decisions.

Thankfully I saved a pdf of the questions.

If those questions were used when I was in third grade, I would have passed with a perfect A average! Math questions like those could've saved me from misjudging the distance between the red light and I. My right food could still be here!

Disturbing things make math easier

I saved a copy of some of those worksheets too. I hate moral guardians, they take the fun out of everything. I didn't see anything too bad in those questions, the gave me a chuckle.
