This weekend EA sale is really tempting for me. I've played about 5 of those games in the past when they were new...would've played more but never had time for them so never bought them.

I currently have a backlog of games via Steam, Humble Bundles, Amazon, and here on GoG after buying the recent Divinity trilogy. Probably around 15-20 games backlogged as is it. Adding 26 more games to it via the EA bundle seems way overwhelming. On the other hand, $62 for the whole set is an incredible value but not if I only end up starting/playing a handful of them.

So just kind of a fun thread as I really don't know what I want to do.

1. What is your best argument that might convince me to buy the entire set?
2. What is your best argument, if any, that would convince me to pass on it?
3. Best option would probably actually be to just buy a handful of games - what ones would you *highly* recommend? (No Wing Commander or Sim City as they've not interested me in the past with the slight exception of Privateer),

As I said, don't take this thread too seriously and feel free to answer how you please. I just ask you please be genuine if you choose to respond. Thanks!

Luisfius: Buy the Bullfrog games.
Pretty much this. Every one of them is fantastic.

EDIT: My favorites are probably Magic Carpet and the Dungeon Keeper games.

You're unlikely to see them at 60% off again anytime soon.
2. What is your best argument, if any, that would convince me to pass on it?
Come Christmas they'll probably be on sale again, albeit only at 50% off (my guess). There will also be more promos next year. Will you play any of the games right away? If not, does the extra 60 cents per game really matter all that much to you?

Theme Hospital and Alpha Centauri I can heartily recommend.
At least get Wing Commander Privateer. It's basically an open-world space combat simulator. (It was also the reason I signed up for GOG.com, but that's neither here nor there.)

The forum devoured my wordy post, so here's the short version: you shouldn't buy the whole bundle because you say in your own post that there are games in it (e.g. Sim City) that you don't want, and spending money on something you don't want is not a bargain, even if would normally cost you even more.

I have no idea where your tastes run, but my specific advice is, this bundle has a lot of series: Ultima, Lands of Lore, Crusader, Wing Commander, Populous, Dungeon Keeper. Buying entire series on spec is absurd, so don't do that. If one of those series interests you, buy one game from it, and if you like it enough, you can buy the others come the Christmas sale (probably 50% off, but they cost $6 to begin with, the difference between 50% and 60% is less than a dollar)
All the EA games on GOG are worth buying, I already have all of them. A bit different from the Interplay collection which has a few duds, EA one is solid quality. I'm not talking about the company or anything though, just the games.

Also, if you get all the Ultima games, make sure to get the Pix Ultima Patcher.
Stick to games you know for certain you would play and would actually enjoy if you might have an idea. Use the reviews to help.

As for me, I would get the Populus titles (I bought the second game last year and for this promotion got Populus Beginnings (another rare game on this site that I've played before) and Dungeon Keeper). If you're into micromanagement, Sim City, Populus and Theme Hospital will work in your favor. Dungeon Keeper for strategy, Ultima if you're into historically renowned games, ect, but I don't know anything about the Crusader titles or that Magic Carpet one.
yeah should try looking up reviews or retrospectives on the series involved to see what ones you're most interested in since buying the whole set if you don't want all of them or don't have time to play is a bit silly.

here's some stuff about the Ultima series as a whole
http://hardcoregaming101.net/ultima/ultima.htm

also, it's not like they're never going to be on sale again,
As a person that has a ridiculous backlog on this site and other sites, I forced myself to stop buying if it was because the sale was really good and not because the game was a must have. I'm looking at the sale the same way I think you are.

I'd recommend distilling it for games you would play in the next month or two. Trust me a sale like this will happen in a year or so so if you don't want to play it soon wait, there is plenty of backlog to keep you busy till the next sale.

As for your list:
1. You are rich, or a collector, also how many gog games you own is a great pickup line at the bar.
2. Most i can almost promise you you won't play (assuming you are like me). You would probably save money buying them at full price and just buy as you play.
3. Dungeon keeper's, alpha centauri, Nox. I will be picking up alpha centauri/theme hospital/magic carpet tomorrow most likely.

Where EA at present likes to kill off their IPs their past had some of the best games on the pc. Nearly all on sale are classics in their own right and i would recommend them.
Jump Jump Jump :D

i think whole pack is awesome each game is fun to play
