bazilisek: Actually, Telltale had nothing to do with the remakes / special editions. They were developed and published by LucasArts only.

Also, I don't want the damned special editions. I want the original games, ScummVM compatible. If I wanted the remakes, I'd own them already.
As the guy already said, the remake includes the original... so where's the problem?

Also, watch us name every single game we can think of except the one it's going to be xD

spindown: The Special Edition remake of Monkey Island is a definite possibility. It's a pretty new game, making it comparatively easy to acquire the rights - and GOG has announced that they will start selling newer games this year. The game is sold not just on Steam but also on Xbox Live and PSN as well as by Telltale Games, so GOG would be just another online distributor to sell it. However, it wouldn't necessarily mean that any of the rest of LucasArts' catalog is to follow.
I hope not. If they make such a big deal from Secret of Monkey Island, it would be huge disappointement.

ScummVM.

Aver: Damn, you are here since Dec 2009 and you still don't know how they love sick jokes like that. ;)
I know, but I hope they've learned something from previous stunts :P
Either way, the Monkey Island remakes and originals were published by LucasArts. If they finally snagged them, they'd be trumpeting a heck of a lot more.

I know, but the Secret of Monkey Island SE is actually sold in the Telltale Games store:

http://www.telltalegames.com/store/secretofmonkeyisland

So it's definitely possible for other distributors to get this game.
This sounds like it could be a great birthday present for me! (Hopefully.)

bazilisek: ScummVM.
Isn't that just a compatibility thing? Like Dosbox or whatever? (broaaaddd comparison)

What would you want from ScummVM in particular? (I'm not too familiar with it)
Can someone tell me what the twitter post said? Sorry, the site is blocked at work.

Thanks!
If it were System Shock, they'd definitely do more than just say "So, we got a game that everyone wants that starts with an S. Got any guesses?" I'd half expect them to create some kind of promotion that ended with the revelation of SHODAN hijacking the site to prevent System Shock from going up.

Oh, that's interesting. I did not know that.

In broad strokes, that's pretty much it. And like Dosbox, it also has awesome cross-compatibility. I think the old point and click adventure games would be great on phones etc.

Guess I should have started with coffee instead of GOG this morning.

Thanks. :)

It's multiplatform. Also has a decent graphics filter selection, you can play with a gamepad etc. Anyway the assholes at LA deliberately kill compatibility with ScummVM in re-releases. Even the oldies like Loom on Steam aren't SV-combatible since the data structure has been changed.
Now we know that answer! :)
