It's Syndicate. You probably already know if you've seen the front page. Exciting!
Boo. Give us System Shock.
Awesome! one of my all time favourite strategy/rpg games!

Syndicate is good but I was hoping for System Shock since I've never played it.
OK, I've seen the front page, but I'm just going to assume it's all a huge misunderstanding and that they actually meant System Shock instead of Syndicate :o
It was reasonable to see it coming. Syndicate remake is coming, so why don't use the hype to sell old games, too?

Syndicate is fine addition to gog catalogue, I will buy this as soon as possible :)

Where is this remake that you speak of? Because all I see is "Generic Future Shooter #644" that the developers slapped Syndicate on.
Well, I should say reboot, not remake, sorry :P
GoG staff have made i clear how difficult it is to get the rights to the System Shock franchise since at least 3 different parties are holding them. stop getting your hopes up every time GoG staff mention an upcoming game beginning with 'S...'.

No.
I doubt System Shock 2 will ever come to GoG with the rights to the game being all over the place. As far as I know, the following article is the most up to date with respect to these rights.

However, I see no reason why the first System Shock cannot be on GoG. After all, the original System Shock has been updated to run on modern systems and was made available to everyone by Looking Glass for free by means of System Shock Portable.

Since the original is free, unlike its successor, you would think that GoG would be able to add System Shock Portable to its library of games. Perhaps there is another reason?

SDF121: snip
they didn't release it

"We distribute these games here free of charge, but we do not claim to hold any rights to them."
Notice the System Shock 2 naysayers only showed up after it was confirmed that the 19th's release wasn't System Shock 2.

Starbreeze is making it though. After Chronicles of Riddick, and The Darkness, Im pretty much guaranteed to buy any shooter they put out.

SS2 naysayers? You mean like the GOG Staff? They have made very clear just how unlikely it is they will secure the rights to either System Shock.

Companies use GOG because it is basically found money for them. EA isn't going to spend significant money or effort on an old release. Obviously anything is possible in the long run, but the rights situation would almost have to sort itself out. EA is very unlikely to care enough to sort it out themselves.

Explaining reality isn't "naysaying". The truth is that these threads pop up so often that most people just don't bother anymore. There are only so many ways you can say "not impossible, but extremely unlikely."
