If the roles have been reversed Deus Ex would have been the highest requested game here in GOG:

These games have alot in common so this is not like my last vs thread screw up.

Me.... This one is too hard I realized but...... Ah damn it its a draw for me.

I won't choose between mum and dad.
Well the best way to look at it is considering how dated Deus Ex was on release date, it is loses quite easily. I never liked the game personally. Great idea, poor game.

System Shock 2 how ever is unique, very well made and is a joy to play.
Well one is a game and the other is also a game so I guess they're both games and therefore they suck.

Guys... There's a reason why we don't respond to Elmofongo's vs threads - they're terrible and it encourages him to make more.

Ah but my opinion usually starts an arguement, im bored so it has its purposes :P
Deus Ex wins because it is available on the PS2 -_-

Seriously though I hate horror so there is no question who is the winner for me.

I could make threads more pointless and worse than simple vs threads believe me I could be making a thread about how arousing SHODAN looks.....oh wait

If you're trying to say "My threads are better than Roman's threads", you're not setting the bar very high.

No I am saying at least my threads are not too pointless and are up for discussion like my Saints thread and Movies versions of books that are better than the original book.
I like both but I personally enjoyed Deus Ex more. That said, SS2 was still an instabuy.
The big D.
To be honest I was thinking of starting a DX vs SS2 thread myself so I'm sure it would have happened eventually

Deus Ex for me, I prefer Conspiracy Theory detective work to survival horror and, to be honest, I found some of the mechanics that were put into SS2 to add tention, like the BioMods that have charge that runs out and, with the strength one, you randomly drop stuff and the need to constanly maintain your weapons were actually a bit of a pain in the arse and a chore

But SS2 IS still awesome, props to it for spawing both the DX series AND the Bioshock series and there's always that 'OMG I can't believe I'm actually running aorund the veins and arteries of a giant space zombie' moment! its just that DX is ever awesomerer so glad both of them exist and that FPS/RPG hybrid is a thing because its one of my absolute favorite genres!

Does anyone out there actually prefer Bioshock to either? I haven't played it myself...

My vote is for Deus Ex, It has a story that feels like I'm in the thick of it, not after the fact and seeing the remnants of something much more interesting. Also it handles the RPG elements much better and no maintenance tools, I hate those, the guns already have ammo to limit them, god that system ruined the game for me.
Hmmm. SS2 and DE1 are (probably) the best games I ever played. I'm not sure which is better - I guess it depends on the mood I'm in. So I guess I'd have to call it a draw.

As to Bioshock: I really like it, but it's no System Shock2. In System Shock you are alone in a dead enviremont - yes, there are monsters; but you feel alone. In Bioshock you are never alone - the monsters are still humans. Although as far as gameplay is concerned I can see the resemblance, as far as feeling and setting is concerned, Dead Space is more of a successor to System Shock than BioShock. To me the perfect blend would be the setting and atmosphere of Dead Space with the gameplay (FPS/RPG) of BioShock.
(BTW: I've played both System Shocks, all three Deus Exes, BioShock 1 and 2 and Dead Space 1.)
