Gigashade: HOLY CRAP!!! I just checked Amazon and it's there. Does anyone have first-hand experience of how Planescape:Torment runs on Windows XP? I played about 10 hours into a pirated version a while back and had to give up when I shifted the character over to using magic. Everytime I used a spell the effects for it stalled the game up for a few minutes, making it pretty much unplayable. I had to give up even though I wanted to finish the game. I'd definitely start over and play it through if I was guaranteed it was working/patched version. The story and setting are really awesome, it totally draws you in despite the dated graphics.

Unfortunately there is a good chance you would have the same problem with the re-release since it's basically the 4 CD version put on a DVD. However someone did make a patch that fixes a spell effects problem for some nVidia cards.

I couldn't get it to work, even when I turned down the hardware video acceleration. :(
If GOG do add Planescape:Torment to their roster it really needs to be a properly patched up version that you can install and play without changing your system setings or installing fan-made patches, not just a direct download of a broken version. I would pay *quite* a bit for a stable, widescreen version!

I don't know if any of the community patches fixed that. But as ceemdee says, it's not a bit different to the CD version. So you might want to try the community patches on your... uh, current copy.
Also note that it might be a video card issue. Yes, it's an old game, but newer drivers sometimes screw things up for older games and it takes them a while to get around to sorting that out. If you haven't already, make sure you've got the latest drivers to be on the safe side.
Thanks for all the feedback guys, I have faith in GOG I believe they will be able to get most of our top wish list games :)
you guys should know that there is an EXCELLENT high res/wide screen patch that for Planescape. It brings out the colors of the Infinity Engine art amazingly, and gives it the quality of a recent indie game. Graphix are NOT dated.
You can also use the old turn off Dx Accleration trick for Planescape torment to solve the Nivida problem.
And I agree that the widescreen patch mentioned is highly recommended. It works beautifully, although it does take a little care to install.
There are several websites that give you detailed insturctions on how to make PT work on a state of the art computer.
The Nvidia fix works, but the widescreen High Res patch works even better.
Has anyone had frame rate problems with Planescape torment? My computers more than capable of playing it but i get like 15 fps in some areas where there are lots of people. Its not game breaking but it is a little annoying.

gyokzoli: Then we just have to make them believe that gog.com sells pirated copies. ;-)

Miaghstir: Shouldn't be too hard, some people already complain that GOG sells cracked copies.
Convincing them to pay for a download may be tougher, I get the impression they mostly pay for the disc.

Would you consider to provide a few examples please.
If your willing to pay monthly, Gametap has Planescape: Torment.
( Warning: I am not 100 percent sure though)

That post was mostly me joking, though the first line is a reference to this and earlier similar complaints. Complaints that I consider invalid.

no mods. no beautiful 1680 resolution. (and PST does look gorgeous)
