Is it possible to change the controls? I heard it isn't in the retail version.

Go into Options and you can easily rebind the keys to classic WASD controls :D

Phew, thanks for the quick reply... Is that game actually really that good? I only heard stories about it. They were all mythical and waaay too awesome sounding that i doubted the existence of such a game until i saw it here...

It's one of the best games ever as it really defines its genre, that being cyberpunk :D

Oh and in case you are wondering why the initial controls are kind of wonky, please keep in mind that this uses the same engine as the first 2 Thief games. If I recall correctly(this info is off the top of my head), there was supposed to be a stealth element like the one in Thief but I think it got cut out due to time constraints.

So they had time to implement the a coop mode because the publisher desired it and they had no time for the stealth thing? Wow... And i heard the coop mode kills the "You are on your own, you better be afraid" atmosphere...

While I am definitely NOT an expert on game design, my theory is that games don't get made from A to Z but more like in parallel where many things are done all at once and then put together into a cohesive whole. The co-op mode could've been requested at, say, the middle of the project while the stealth was being worked out.

Again, this is just me positing theories which I urge you to double-check on your own when you have the time :D

Ah, you handled that all wrong. You should have posited a theory that the publishers forced the devs to stuff in MP into a mainly single player game without any evidence and this resulted in a lesser game. Thus fueling further internet rage. Instead you're being reasonable!?

Also, I really need to buy this game soon.
System Shock 2 actually uses pretty much exactly the same 'stealth engine' as Thief does, so you can go and sit in a darkened corner and listen to hybrids saying the equivalent of "must've been rats" if you want to. There just aren't many darkened corners in SS2, no light gem or destroyable light sources, and not much emphasis on alternative out of sight routes being available. Personally, I'd be very surprised if they cut much stealth emphasis, the whole level design and philosophy would have to be different.

The key binding was broken in the retail version and led to the use mode bug where pressing lmb would open the interface rather than shoot, though it was easily fixable. The version sold here or retail with a new dark patch applied doesn't suffer from that though.

Nah it did not felt Cyberpunky to me, for one I never associate a Cyberpunkish world that also has space travel (hence the game taking place in a space ship) which I have never seen in Cyberpunk fiction.

Deus Ex is cyberpunk 100%

Nope, it's not actually that good. But it's pretty damn great regardless.
