KolyaKorruptis: Personally I don't see anything gained by a commercial re-release as it won't finance a single new game. And people can already play System Shock as it is.
As incredible as it is, thats not how business work though. Personally id rather think of it as supporting a good service provider (GOG).

No doubt the could add all sort of fluff and what not with it. Personally i am not too keen on manuals and such, but definitely doesnt hurt either.

Also if it happens to sell alot and actually gets visibility (new players) -> you never know if SS3 might be one step closer.
That reminds me, I saw the movie <span class="bold">"Hanna"</span> the other day, and the music in it (by Chemical Brothers) gave me strong flashbacks of the System Shock music:

Considering how Thiaf took the word "franchise rape" to a new level, I'd really hate to see the same thing happeni to the System Shock series. I have little hope that AAA-devs these days are capable of delivering the same horrifying yet complex experience the System Shocks offered. There's currently a game in development called "Routine". The developers have already stated that they plan to release on gog as well. Check out the trailer, it certainly has a very System Shock like vibe to it!

Pessimist is ofcourse never disapointed - but i am trying to hang on to my childish (occasional) optimism.
This thread led me to dig out and image my System Shock CD (a nuisance, since I do my imaging on my wife's Mac, which does NOT like this disc).

I'd still buy a re-release. Day 1.
