drmlessgames: Can this FarCry release join multiplayer servers? I tried playing Far Cry online back when it was released, but i couldnt figure out Ubisoft's strange multiplayer setup. You had to go to their site, register for an ubisoft account, go to the game, create a profile, then put your account settings there. For some reason, my ubisoft account didnt get authenticated.
And another question, i too have a crappy 6200 geforce, can anyone please tell me the best settings in config files to run this game at reasonable FPS? With not too many visual compromises of course.

You might have to contact support for your own CD key. Steam requires you to enter a key into the game as well.
There is one important thing people need to realize about release 1.4 of FarCry :
If you cannot get your mouse to work in game, you must return to the option menu and reset the controls to the default settings in order to make things work again. It was a known issue in 1.4
I already own this game however.

Aliasalpha: Well I was thinking of buying a new game to celebrate my new and functional WAN router, it was going to be darkstar one but I think an FPS would be a nice change of pace.

that makes two of us, just intalled my new d-link DIR-635, n-specification, rangemaster boosting, quite a nice think :P so i am downloading farcry just now.
i loved this game. its gonna get PLAYED today. maybe there will be a big gog multiplayer surge.
No new publisher or game announcement today? :(

Really? I installed 1.4 when it was released, and didnt have those problems. I read that patch 1.4 did break some things in farcry, like for example, the z-clipping or something like that in AI characters, so they would be able to spot you from a mile away and shoot you through trees and rocks. Anyone had that occuring to their games?

That's realism patch - what would you expect with that bright, RED shirt?
What do you mean "this water is sooo less realistic than in Far Cry"?
The water looks faker than a pornstars boobs.

mercenaries that can spot you from a mile away and can hear your footsteps from across the other side of their camps and instakill you is not realism. It's actually the opposite of that.

Gexecuter: I would so buy this except for the fact that my crappy geforce 6200 would probably won't run the game well at all, maybe later when i make an upgrade.

I ran it on my laptop with a Geforce 5200fx. Granted, I didn't put the graphics all on high, but it did ran well.

Nah, it's realistic, red shirt is so red it screams
... Literally

Can someone explain the appeal of this game?
I've played bits of it and I always thought it was just another generic, flavorless FPS.

Certain degree of freedom in combat, and need to actually make some kind of plan before rushing into enemy camp. Also, very good AI

You can change the color of your shirt. I played with a blue shirt, so that it would blend with the plants.

What, the blue plants? Granted, I haven't played the game for more than 20 minutes (I have the retail version, and it isn't happy with my 64bit Vista), but as I recall, they're mostly green, as in real life.
