"According to the Sega Blog, the San Diego Comic Con will once more play host to Sonic Boom, which last year allowed pre-release play sessions of Sonic Generations and a live show by Crush40. This year’s event takes place at the House of Blues on July 13, and doesn’t require a SDCC badge.

Summer of Sonic is the well-established UK equivalent, and will take place in London on July 7. Now in its fifth year, the community gathering promises fan art competitions, speed run pods, and hands-on sessions with unreleased Sonic games"

So Then? How many GOG'ers from UK are going to attend the event? Any people from the US excited about this and Sonic Boom?

I don't know if I am so much excited as just curious. It always amazes me how much devotion Sonic is able to draw from its fanbase after letting them down with so many mediocre games. I am a big fan of the original four (including S+K), Sonic CD, and I am having a good time with Sonic Generations, and happy to have a new Sonic game that is actually pretty good. But many, many horrible games came between. I still feel ashamed that I actually owned Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) at one point.

What I want to know is, and maybe you can answer for me, do a majority of Sonic devotees love the much-maligned newer games as much as the classic titles? Or, has their love for the classics simply been a guiding light through a sea of BS releases?

It just dawned on me that "Sonic Colors" is akin to calling a game "Optical Noises".

SEGA themselves said they want to increase the quality of the games and the "Value of the Brand"

Colours was a nice start Generations was fantastic start and I'm sure S4 Episode 2 will be great

That's encouraging if they are willing to admit that the series lost focus and they express a desire to fix it. Generations is an enjoyable game, but I think Episode 2 is going to need a total revamp to work because the physics and momentum in that game just don't feel right, I much prefer the Act I's in SG. How do you feel about the Sonic Titles before Colors, Roman? Are you a fan of any of the generally panned games?

Heroes was the start of what I like to call the "Dark Ages"

That's when the series plunged into oblivion and the games were made with no other purpose other than to milk the franchise, during that time only the handheld games were worth a damn and it was hard being a fan, especially when 06 was released and it's one of the worst games ever made

I actually liked Unleashed for example (The HD version) the day levels were great and night levels were ok

The reason I'm excited for Episode 2 is because it's being made by Sonic Team, wheras the first one was made by Dimps

I've never been a hardcore Sonic fan but his name still holds a lot cachet with me carried over from his glory days in the '90s. A run of bad games won't blunt that, unlike a true fan I haven't played half them. I picked up Generations not long ago out of pure nostalgia and wasn't disappointed. Someone in love with the series may have already given up hope or been unwilling to overlook faults.

Let's see... the last new Sonic release I purchased would have been Sonic 2, LOL. There has to be tens of thousands of people like me. Recent games may have been garbage but he's still a very famous mascot. Much of the Genesis/ MegaDrive's original playerbase is purchasing games for their kids now.
