I don't know if this has been mentioned or tried before, but randomly selecting a member once in a while and offering a discounted bundle price on all the games they have on their wishlist seems like a good idea.

I am unsure of the contractual agreements you have made in regards to the games you sell, so I don't know if this is even possible. I just thought it sounded like a good idea. Maybe once a month or once a quarter figure out some way to randomly select a member and offer a discount on all the games in their wishlist.

What does everyone think (including GOG admins)?

They already take it a step further, by giving you free games :)

Every year they give away free games for 24-48 hours, whether during a summer sale, or for those that answer a survey on their page.

Games I personally have gotten include: Realms of Arkana 1 &2, Realms of Arkania 3, Duke Nukem' 3D, Fallout 1, Torchlight.

... not to mention the free games already automatically added to your library.

... not to mention the contests they do where winners receive copies of games (a lot of them around holidays)

Though, I do see your point about having a wishlist discount code or something like that. I believe it's more complicated than you may think. My understanding is in order to discount the pricing, they have to get it preapproved by the publisher, as it cuts into the profits per unit sold by all involved parties. Even the standard bundled sales (like what's going on now) has to be approved of, or the publisher can have it removed. In the past, SquareEnix removed their games a week or two before the other bundles were removed.

I can recommend that you participate actively in the forums, as many people do giveaways of games that may be on your list, some even gift people games to people, and also trade codes for games. :)

I noticed that they give away games free from time to time. I got Torchlight, which turned out to be a really fun game to play. The only game I have bought is Arcanum so far.

I figured something would keep the idea from being used, as I mentioned about whatever their contractual agreements are. I have seen a few of the giveaway from different people, but I don't do riddles, so I am out of that one. It's nice of the people that do it though. I am not very active in the forums on here, I have a lot of other things going on. So checking the forums usually slips my mind in place of more pressing concerns.

Why? It's not. They might as well gift a user the whole catalog, no agreement with the publisher necessary.. How about "it makes no sense"? See first question. Free stuff is handed out to incentivize behavior that ultimately leads to more games sold (following the site, reading and participating in forum discussions, watching gaming news, etc). Why would they reward doing nothing? As in, an inactive user gets a super discount, might not even use it, might not post about it on the forums, and even if they do, it's pretty much bound to make the regulars pissed.

You seem to use some flawed logic and unfounded assumptions in a couple of your responses.

My idea makes no sense? Can you make an intelligent argument as to how like Braussie did, or do you just like typing for no reason?

Next up on your deficiency list; you assume that I don't buy anything from the site, that's fine, but you put more into my comment than what I said. If I didn't buy anything from GOG, I wouldn't be a member for one and two, I said that I usually forget to check the forums, not that I just wanted a discount on the games on my wishlist just because I took the time to make one.

If your rep was gained through comments such as those you made in relation to my post, I am concerned about the GOG base. Your comments lack substance or justification in the current state. Work on that and try again. One last thing, proofread before you click on "Post my message".

Weird idea. I think if you're going to randomly select people for a reward you would be better off doing a giveaway, which they do from time to time.

Something like if you buy ten or more games from your wishlist at once, you get 40% discount on them. And I would make the intervals not randomly but like 1-2 times a year for everybody.

But then I would probably put all games on my wishlist, just in case. :)

They have this feature already in action, and it's for everybody, not just any random person. This doesn't include ALL their titles, probably for copyright reasons, but in case you didn't notice there's an offer of -50% (more for some titles) in over 500 titles - some of which I'm sure are included in your wishlist.

Honestly, I was looking into what else I could put there for trade with people who didn't have full bundles and such, and I couldn't come up with anything. Other than the couple Krondor games, just for the heck of it.
My 1 item isn't included though.


That's why it's still on the wishlist while the others disappeared.
