Navagon: So Crysis, which is set in the future and explores potential technological and political developments, along with alien encounters is not true sci-fi, but a game set a long, long time ago in a universe of sword and sorcery is? :P
I'm not sure if you're making fun of me for forgetting Republic Commando was the name or making fun of Star Wars in some fashion.

I'm not making fun of Star Wars. Star Wars is great. But it would be utterly terrible if considered sci-fi.
As fantasy, which it is, it's great.

No, I think he's arguing that Crysis is more solidly sci-fi than the Sword and Planet Star Wars. I put them both in sci-fi though.

LOL i almost marked ur post as the solution, thanks but no thanks.....
im gona try star wars u guys suggested and downloading quake 4.
Borderlands and such games pissed me off kuz u had to work really hard to make or have a gun that doesnt make enough damage, metro 2033 was epic how come nobody mentioned metro 2033?
im gona keep this topic one more day then mark a solution so if u have suggestions then give them or just spam about epic fps games....
AREA 51 was great, i liked voice acting of merlin manosn :P

The Mass Effect games are pretty good ... Plus just picked up a low rated game on steam for 5 bucks that may be rather linear but doesn't seem too bad (Alpha Prime) has a pretty good story and you can find video walkthroughs on youtube.

There's also Prey. There's the Riddick games, but they probably contain too much in the way of humanity's darkest side to be appealing to you.

Haven't seen "Red Faction" mentionned, and haven't played it. Doesn't it provide some good colorful sci-fi kaboom, with destructible walls and all ?

Riddick was an epic game i liked how u can use the dark as an advantage....
i never tried red faction let me check it.....

The op asked for a mix of "futuristic" and real-life guns. and the weapons in Red Faction 1 aren't really that exotic.
