For what it's worth, being American, I try to stay on the right until the person walking on their left refuses to move the side and I have to walk in front of others who were on their right. Not all the time, but it happens enough to warrant mentioning.

If it's a hot chick I try my best to accidentally bump into her.

I tend to walk on the right side of hallways anyway, so it's usually not an issue. But, if I do have to manoeuvre around someone, I don't care if it's left or right, I just look for the quickest path since most people move like sloths anyway.
