Why do they keep oon occurring? Why do we need to see these stupid scenes over and over again. These silly scenes where one or more caracter dance music video style in a silly way. They did it in Monsters vs. Aliens where the cockroach who has a PHD in dance opens a lock by dancing randomly on a dancemat. They did it in despicable me, and accordingt to the trailer for Star Wars: Detours, there will also be one there. I hate them with a passion. They make no scence, are out of place and make no difference to the story. It seems as if we should all think it's cool, but it's not.
In Disney's "The beuty and the beast" the dance scene made sence. It was a beutiful scene, and I think it added something to the story. In these other kinds of scenes they just seem to add some minutes to make us feel that the movie wasn't too short.
I think the people who make these movies are smart and talented enough to make something clever that makes sence. So why do we have to be dragged through this?
Because children like songs. And there is an Oscar nomination for the best song, and back in the day, Disney was owning that category :P

Good point. I don't think there was any dancing in Heavy Metal and that was the greatest animated movie of all time.
The rapping dog in Titanic: The Animated Movie
I wish they would do away with singing as well. It's such an "old" approach, even with "kid" movies.
It's really mostly a Dreamworks thing because Dreamworks' one formula is smirking pop culture references and that basically fits in there.

High School Musical (hate hate hate)

I haven't seen that movie, but if 1.7 points on imdb.com tells something, I guess the rapping dog is one of the minor problems.

Yeah. That was the reason why I couldn't watch The Lion King.
Just the horror.

I saw it on television about 10 years ago, but the Nostalgia Critic reviewed it. Otherwise i wouldn't have remembered it. But yes, that's the least of its problems.

Lion King has amazing songs. But Hercules has better ones imho.
Silly story. When I went to see Aladdin I was with a group of guys who were on acid. Now I want to stress that despite my past indescretions (spell) I myself have never dropped acid and I was stone sober at the time. Point being, I think in watching them trip while watching the movie that they definitly got more out of the singing and dancing than everyone else.

IIRC it made up for it with a nude swimming scene.

It all depends on the movie though it fits with The Hunchback of Notre Dame imo and Beauty and the Beast.
