I'm sure GOG are as keen to get it here in a timely fashion as they were D:OS. :-P
At least it will reach GOG at some point, that something I suppose, with Night Dive latest released and all.
Hehe, no Strife?

ShadowWulfe: Hehe, no Strife?
As Night Dive said, "in the near future" to GOG.

It gladdens my heart to see that Night Dive is doing such a good job keeping filthy pirates and foreigners at bay. These 20 year old games can be found nowhere else, and with these protections, the glorious motherland is safe.
Just saw the entry in Steam, will love to be able to buy this game, but must be in GOG

Cyraxpt: OHHHHHHHHhhhhhh, that Strife!
The only Strife ;)
They bundled it with a port rather than DOSBox? The cynical part of me says they did it so they could slap some dumb subtitle (veteran's edition, seriously?) on it and sell it for a higher price than just a DOSBox game.
And what advantage does this have over playing the original with zDoom or similar? Aside from cards, achievements and whatever feeder they sell as improvement nowadays? Becuase I find the "HD" mode rather ugly.

You're missing the point.

Strife was lost in rights hell, this modern re-release gives everyone an equal chance to legally buy it for cheap and play it. Hassle free and without the ancient DOS-isms. This is a wonderful gesture, and I'm very happy they didn't just slap DOSBox on it and call it a day.

If you have the know how, the will, and the time, then perhaps yes, this port won't satisfy you. To everyone else, they get to experience a lost classic.

Believe me I know the point, I am not saying this shouldn't be released or whatever. That was a genuine question, not the typical sarcastic one. I am glad they fixed the legal trouble, but as a guy in a budget. I am asking if it offers anything that a genuine copy with a sourceport does not. Because they are hinting to a NOLF release, and I would prefer to save my money and spend in on that rather than in something I already have, minor technical issues aside.
With the rights back in Rogue's hands, there is the possibility of new games in Strife's setting:
"We always had thoughts of returning to tell more stories in that world. Who knows, we might just get the chance..."

I think it's too early for that, but if it does happen I'd back it with a top-tier pledge. :)

All of them would need their Steam exclusivity period first I'm sure.
