Zhirek: I hope not.
I really like to see if I can become as good at Street fighter IV as I was back in the days in the arcade with Street fighter II.
avatar
AlphaMonkey: Yeah, I had that dream, too.
Five minutes of getting my ass handed to me by thirteen year olds promptly disabused me of that notion. It's depressing, damn it.

But I was really really good.
Really...
And when I say really good, I mean really good.
My high score at that time was above a million. And you could only get that if you have several perfects against the last four bosses, my best character was Blanka.
I'm not aiming to become top ten in the world, maybe top 100 or 200 is feasible, I'll let this community know in due time how I cope with Street Fighter IV and my old arthritic reflexes.
I pre bought the game from Impulse for only $32 today and I am really happy. %10 discount on Impulse for everyone and I used %10 discount code too, great deal. :)

acare84: Game has GFWL DRM limited activations as like all GFWL titles (confirmed and no crossplatform play) and also Securom DRM like all Capcom tites on PC (I think).

That's misinformation -- please don't spread it. =/
All questions answered here. Short version is this: disc-based SecuROM, nothing else.
Impulse version uses Goo and Steam just uses Steam. Everything else uses SecuROM/network authentication (link)

What is misinformation? Game will use Securom disc check or activation it is not the problem and it is DRM.
Anyway and GFWL has limited activations for all LIVE enabled games and SF4 is not the exception. It will use same limited activations. If you want to try this just format (or ghost it) your PC on the same day and reinstall the game you will see.

Well Microsoft and Capcom are both lying or misinformed, then. :P
I am not saying anything about this anymore. You will see, Relic and Rockstar also said same things. I showed you some of them, believe or not. :) Firstly Microsoft is stupid and they don't know anything about GFWL, so don't believe them. Capcom also doesn't know anything about this I think like other developers like Bethesda, Relic or Rockstar.

No, I remember, I just assumed if I asked both of them straight up they would know what was going on, and so this game was not like the others.
Blargh.
Too much messing around -- I think I'm just going to get the Impulse version.

deoren: This is another title I'm watching closely (aside from Overlord 2) to see what DRM is used. If it's activation based I'm skipping it. :(

According to GCW, it has SecuROM (and Steam?).

If you live in the EU you can buy the game from Play.com or Zaavi for about 23€. Which is exactly what I'm gonna do.

The Impulse version will apparently use GOO (ie. Stardocks own DRM).

So, is Goo considered better or worse than Steam's system?

It's new enough that people haven't had much chance to evaluate it. One of the goals was to allow the customer to re-sell a used game via Stardock's (the makers of Impulse and GOO) site while protecting the publisher/developer's rights.

Depends on your needs and how much you love/hate Steam. :P
Goo is detailed here. Basically you activate online once upon each installation and that's it -- it's done with your e-mail and serial, and nothing is installed. One thing I really like about it is there's no change to the source code of the game, unlike with SecuROM, for example. Also, it's not tied to any one set of authentication servers, so you don't have to worry about them shutting down -- at least, that's the idea.
