jagged alliance have so much fun and satisfaction coded within that you wont regret a second spent with that game.
My experience with JAUB2 on Steam kind of ruined all the JA games for me sadly. But I might pick up Soldiers...

lowyhong: Sounds cool. Can I throw grenades into the driver seats of tanks to completely incapacitate it?

I can't remember if you can actually throw the grenades inside fully enclosed vehicles, but as the grenades do bounce and you can aim throw them I know you can throw them into open-topped vehicles. But you can find repair kits to fix tanks, so sometimes the best thing is to disable or damage a tank enough that the crew will flee it and you can then repair and take over the tank.
Another cool thing is its also dependent on if you fill your tank with a full crew or not. I.e. you can just have 1 guy drive a tank, but it will be slower to fire, accuracy is down etc. But if you let 2-3 people man a tank it will perform better
I wish that the Strategy Promo meant it was simply 25% off any Strategy Game you choose to buy, not a limited list.
I have everything in the sale grouping I want, but I would have bought others, if I could have at 25% off.

That sounds pretty amazing. Anything bad about the game that I should take note of?

Well, I didnt find anything particular bad about it. I was pleasantly surprised as this was both an in-depth strategy game with a nice dose of realism in how cover, penetration etc works. And I didnt have to micromanage too much as I only had a select number of people to worry about.
I guess the only things that could be considered "bad" would be its a slow game with often some trial and error ( read, save and load ) to make sure you get your men relatively unscathed through the scenario. I do believe there is one or two missions where the time limit is a bit of a nuisance as I had to rush a lot more than I normally like. But overall this game was one of the games I'd gladly pay for again.
And apparently you can play multiplayer games ( not tried it ) and download mods to get new campaigns ( have only briefly tried it ).
Of course, some people don't like it. I guess if you are intrigued enough go read some of the reviews, and see what others found good or bad.
Does anyone else think M.A.X. alone is worth the $4.99 right now? I've read so many bad reviews of MAX 2.
Anyone? MAX 2 seems to suffer from so many problems, I'd like to think the $4.99 only pays for the first game, if it's that good.

Yes the first game is that good.
In the end i ended up only getting Perimeter (great game) from the lot. I was really considering getting Soldiers and Hostile Waters too, but Painkiller BE made a very strong argument about why it should be picked instead (i loved PK and i haven't played BooH yet), so that was the end of that.
Thanks again for the promo.
You should get Hostile Waters. I just got it, and it's solid shit. Really, I don't remember the last time I played a game like this. Controls take some (read: hell a lot) getting used to, but once you're in it, boom bang blast blast. Too bad there's no terraforming; other than that, every building is destructible
Not a perfect game though, it's a pretty rough gem. Lack of subtitles during dialogues among the different team members, graphical glitches, crappy main menu music (and lack of ambience music in the war room), lack of skirmish/multiplayer prevent it from getting a 5 stars from me, but so far I'm having a blast in-game. Literally.
This is one game you cannot afford to miss.

I've been wanting to get Hostile Waters since it landed on catalogue. Same thing for Gorky 17 and Septerra Core, which i know i'll get eventually.
But you made such a good case for Hostile Waters i almost felt guilty for not getting it :)
So...downoading it right now. Thanks for the nudge.
EDIT : I guess the boards are screwy again. I can't attach pics to my posts.

You won't regret it. They made the shooting mechanics right. The vehicles are fun to drive too, even if using simplistic physics. Choppers sway a bit if you steer too much, land vehicles have their suspension and acceleration down pat. On top of that, it's helluva fun blowing up things. Seriously, the story's pretty cool, but you'd be playing in third person whenever possible, just to blow up more things

It's on my HD now. I'll give it a whack tonight :)

I was hoping that's Fallout Tactics is strategy to :-(. Waiting for next promo...

I played the demo recently and really enjoyed it. I'm strongly thinking about getting it this weekend.
