Azrael360: Hell, even I can't find it when I look for it in legit places to buy it online for direct download. The only place I did find it was in Abandonia, and I don't know how legit could it be, if the game is OK, patched or updated. And it seems you can download the full game for free there, but I'm not sure.

A GOG release would be great.
It has videos ripped out it, in a game all about storytelling it's a pretty big thing.

mondo84: Did I also read on here before that game is incredibly difficult to run stably on modern systems?

KingofGnG: Nope. There's a patch that let the game run perfectly fine on modern Windows systems. My recently purchased copy of the game works pretty well on Windows Vista SP2, for instance....
Would you kindly point me in the right direction?

Who knows, maybe Blood Omen will be the magic game #500?
I got the game via PSN and tried playing it on my PSP. Boy, what a disappointment! I only managed about an hour. The story seems really promising, but the gameplay was quite poor in my opinion. Perhaps this is simply not my cup of tea, though I generally like retro, sprite-based games, RPGs (both classic and arcade-ish).

EDIT: Oh, I've never played the original game back in the 1990's, so no nostalgia filter for me, I'm afraid...

Damn, if only GOG could release the game... :(
Also, I found this. It describes how to play the game on XP and Vista for owners of the CD version of the game. It seems a modified EXE is requiered, and can be found in that page.
In a manner of speaking, it's good to see it's not in the batch that just got released on Steam. It means no one knows how to get a hold of it.

MsbS:
I guess you were playing the PS1 version, which I read was really, really bad compared to the original superior PC version. I played the PlayStation version like 12 years ago, and it was unplayable. Very slow and a good amount of loading screens for everything. Man, I was never able to complete the game (it wasn't mine anyway). Since then I always wanted to play the PC version, but I was never able to find it!

Thanks, did all that when I had XP, just thought someone made a simpler Win7 patch in the meantime.

Here it is: http://home.comcast.net/~heavyweights/games/kain/index.htm. The patch installs a complete copy of the game from the original CD, as well. The only issue I've found, so far, is that you need to set the desktop to 16-bit colors - otherwise the game won't run.

Brilliant, thanks!
