Nnno, I said that you can play from your couch with all the advantages of PC gaming as a response to someone who was talking as if noone ever would want to do such a thing. I have never even suggested that playing from a couch is generally better in whatever way than playing from a chair, I'm pretty much doing what I can to not talk for other people, ever. And I, personally, just love to get off my chair that I do work all the time in and at the very least do my hobby in a different position and slightly different surroundings.

Actually when you're playing a long time in a row, just remaining frozen in the same position can be fairly harmful, no matter how anatomically correct given position is.

Ok, my apologies. I took it too much personally :P I fought so manny battles with "PC GAMING SUCKS, BECAUSE YOU SIT IN UNCOMFORTABLE CHAIR" people, I kinda lost it.

Well ergonomically speaking a couch really isn't that great for gaming because it's not really intended for that purpose. It's intended for relaxing and reading a book or watching TV or whatever, it's not meant to be a seat for an active person interacting with a video game. Over long periods of time you'll likely end up hunched or with a neck ache.

On the other hand, couches can seat multiple people, which is great for multiplayer. It's also great because when your opponent in a fighting game does nothing but spam one unblockable move the whole match, they're easily within punching distance, and your match can easily spill over into the real world without you worrying about damaging your coffee table!

Great, if this sets through I can only play lousy console games, if I wanted that I go play on my console.

My brother (a gamer of the C 64 and early Dos age) just discovered Steam. (Through Portal 2). He is very tech-savy but never bothered much with games (the last one he really played was Deus Ex).

His reaction on Steam: "Are they traded publicly? Can I buy their stocks?" Then I told him about big picture and now he took a day of work just to play some games he missed. He is very impressed.

Therefore, I would say, "Big Picture" is doing what it is supposed to do.

Just bought him the Amazon SE bundle, he will shit bricks after seeing DX:HR.

The circles closes. He introduced me into Baldurs Gate and the like and I'm now showing him the future.

Hopefully Big Picture will encourage the remaining few developers to include controller support in their games--BioWare in particular ports their games from the 360 but needlessly removes controller support rather than adding keyboard and mouse support alongside it.

The really weird thing is that in 2010 I wanted exactly this feature as I connected my laptop to the TV and my only problem with this was how awkward selecting a game was. Now both my laptop and my TV are broken (my cat bumped with full speed into the TV screen... the cat's okay, the screen is not...) but I can't wait to test it once we got a new one.
This. Also many shooters have the same problem. It's ridiculous that there's console versions of these games that work perfectly with controllers but the devs force PC users into emulating Mouse and Keyboard input through third party tools. God, devs are idiots.
