New deals are up:
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor - 75% off
Mr. Robot - 80% off
King Arthur RPG Wargame - 50% off
Stormrise - 75% off
Jade Empire: SE - 75% off
CoH, Jade Empire, and some other shit, in other words. Stormrise is pretty bad, maybe not Space Siege bad but still not worth your time. Don't know about Mr. Robot but apparently it's been getting generally favourable reviews, so at only 2 bucks it could be worth picking up.
So, what are the daily deals again? Nyuk nyuk nyuk!
They all look fairly mediocre.
i could pick up Silent Hill but it is not available in here. So today anything for me again.
I still want prey.. but it's not even listed anymore in steam. Not even for the old price.. or am i missing something?
I think i will get Tales of Valor. I've been always a big fan of CoH but ToV never appealed to me for the price tag they put on it. Today i might reconsider my decision.
Mr. Robot is a funny game.. i played the demo a while back. But it's not really my cup of coffee, so i might skip this one, even at the low price.
Jade Empire is... kind of... really cheap. A friend of mine gifted me a copy via Steam last Christmas. Maybe I should return the favor. (Chuckle.)

Some games on Steam require CD keys and Prey is one of them -- they ran out yesterday and are working on getting more from the publisher.
Aside from King Arthur, it looks like the UK is getting a better deal than the US.
Jade Empire is good. Although it's a bit too much like an oriental reskin of KotOR with better combat. Deja vu aside, it's well worth the asking price.
Mr Robot is a great little isometric platformer. The kind of game I'd imagine many GOGers would appreciate it for its old school influences.
Tales of Valor wasn't worth its original price tag, but I'm considering getting this one now.

They're not remotely comparable, Stormrise is so bad it makes everything else look like gold compared to it. Worst game of the year, IMO. It's a disaster.
Mr. Robot is very fun, and surprisingly polished and intelligent. Well worth whatever price they're asking for it. Kind of Head over Heels meets Final Fantasy.

Space Siege's main failing was that it was bland as hell. I played the demo and was left with a "WTF is this?" impression. There was nothing to it. I thought it was going to be bad, but not as bad as it was.
Stormrise was just one big error. Both in technical and in terms of design. If you make a system that makes the game somewhat playable on console, then don't port it over to the PC version. Seriously now. We don't need that shit.
So how is Jade Empire? I looked at some videos and it looked like a standard 3D beat'em up.

it's what got me into Bioware RPGs, it's really fun - if you liked KotOR you'll probably like Jade Empire. I actually didn't like KotOR that much, but I loved Jade Empire, and was able to play KotOR after playing JE.

It's an action driven RPG (with occasional skippable SHUMP sections). It's pretty combat heavy, but also features a host of well crafted characters and two paths of morality to choose between that shape your character's development. The choices you make throughout the game dictate the ending. It's well worth the asking price if you're at all interested in action driven RPGs.
I got King Arthur as a Xmas gift and I'm loving it so far. I just barely started, but it surprised me (in a very good way).

Laaaaaaaaaaand?
Sorry. Had to do it. Didn't realize you had an account on here. :)
Um. But to answer your question, Jade Empire is... well, it's a BioWare RPG. So if you've ever played one (The Baldur's Gate games, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, and son on) then you should have some idea of what to expect. And if you've never played any of those, then... well, there's plenty of cliches that BioWare loves to put into its games.
Cliches, however, are not always bad things. The whole "ragtag bunch of misfits" trope, for example? Not always a bad thing. Jade Empire, like other BioWare games, has a very colorful cast of NPCs. The whole "main character comes from nothing but gets embroiled in grand events" trope? Also a very common thing. But while they may resort to the tried and true, they do it well.
The only real departure is that Jade Empire tends to be a little more action heavy than the other games they've put out, and that's mostly because the combat system isn't just point and click to tell your people who to attack. You actually have to fight your battles like it were an action game. It's not quite button mashing, but it's a bit more involved than what some folks might be used to.
Still, pretty darned fun, especially given that the production values were really good, as always, I felt. Terrific music, good voice acting (pretty much staples for the Bioware crew,) and the setting was just gorgeous.

Snickersnack: Killing Floor is a steal at $5.

Weclock: seriously, something is wrong with my steam installation and I can't add you as a friend because it can't handle functions like "steam://adduser" or applaunch or anything (which means I can't join games from "you've been invited..") so please add weclock.

I just clicked the "add to your friends list" button on your steam profile. I think that sends you an invite.
Have you tried doing friend management directly from the steam client (as opposed to say firefox or IE)?
