When you compare the prices and number of titles involved in the sale, it's not exactly like there's much competition. I thought the GOG sale was good. But Steam does seem to have beaten it.
Oh and if you want a source: Some good stuff, but none of it holds a candle to Steam’s insanity.

unless you are outside the US/EU ;-)
Though, to be fair, D2D and half the other sites are just as bad. It's not that steam is worse, it's just that EVERY game in the sale that I want to buy happens to be unavailable in Japan... it's like they're specifically trying to target me and wind me up.

They're selling the Orange Box today for $14.99. I'm not sure how that compares with what it costs elsewhere these days, but in terms of entertainment value per dollar that's a great deal. TF2 alone is worth that price, and you get HL2 + episodes + Portal for free!

Yep, today's deals are (U.S. .dollars):
Orange Box $15
Space Siege $5
Burnout Paradise $7.50
Killing Floor $5
Prey $2.25
Definitely going to pick up Killing Floor for $5 -- fairly entertaining co-op with good developer support.

taczillabr: For me yes, it was $4.99 since the first day, I don't know if it was in the U.S. too. This game uses GFWL.
bansama: I can't say which regions specifically [...] drive away pissed off customers in the long run. I'm not upset, it is just annoying to see a price cut 15 days after you bought something, that's it. I would be really upset if I were one of the guys who bought the id pack 1 day earlier, and wake up in the next day to find a discount over the discounted price.
I'm still happy with the price tag I've paid early, I really am. Here I would have paid $50 for BF2 at retail, because the prices are frozen even if the game isn't new.
Here KF costs $3.74 today, I'll buy it, even if I hate this DLC practice coming from Tripwire.
About Prey, I would buy it for sure, but thanks to 2K Games it is restricted here. I'm already seeing BioShock having a giant discount but being restricted here, in the next days. :(
All DLCs are included in Burnout Paradise on Steam? Anyone bought and played it for hours? Is it a boring need for speed on an open world, or what?

Killing Floor DLC's are adding only characters (skins) to the game. You don't need to buy them. Other free DLC's are added maps, weapons and perks. So Tripwire is not screwing up players with DLC's like EA or other companies. Because of this good move I and other players who respects Tripwire bought 2 unnecessary DLC's for support them. They did really good for me.

Edited: Err, yeah what the guy above me said. I actually prefer it this way. You don't have to buy the DLC to enhance the game play but it's just a way for you to give additional money to support the developer if you enjoy their product. Good model.

OK, thanks you two, I'll buy it anyway. It's that I am used to their model for red orchestra, with 2 free mods and 0 dlcs.
If the gameplay is equal for everyone, no problem then. :)

I'm still waiting for Fallout 3 GotY with a heavy discount.
I'd buy Burnout Paradise, if I hadn't spent so much in the last few months already (including a lot of money this very month).

Yeah, I also purchased the DLC to support Tripwire, and I've never used the new player models.
Killing Floor is a steal at $5.
