AFnord: I won a valley without wind, and it turned out to be an illegally obtained key :(
*sighs* Oh well, back to working on that backlog then.
At least the person who tried to fool me into using it got perma-banned from Steam gits.
Ian: I won portal, but am still waiting for it - i am beginning to think it wont show. But i won :) so that makes me happy either way. (yes i know i am sad lol)
how did u know it was a bad key - i wont stop gifting but this has me wondering if i should continue to enter ?
The giveaway was removed by an admin, and when I checked the steamgift forum to see what was going on, there was some talk about bad A Valley without Wind keys being generated (apparently someone had created a keygen, and people were submitting keygenerated keys on steamgifts). Things like this has apparently happened in the past (check their list of exploited keys), but it is not common.
Oh well. A Valley Without Wind looked neat, but it is not on the top of my "must play" list, and it would probably have been a game that would have gathered some digital dust for a while in my steam library anyway.
Stooner: I think it was a keygen...
I got one yesterday too, and redeemed (before knowing it was exploited)..
Hope they just delete the game from my account, and don't try anything funny... ;p
Contact Steam support to be on the safe side and explain what happened. They will most likely not do anything to your account either way, other than just remove the game from your library, but better safe than sorry.
