The only information Steam sends across is the 64-bit Steam ID that just logged in. Everyone's Steam ID is freely viewable, so it's not sensitive information. For example, mine is 76561198020696458.

Navagon, that's the nature of Open ID. We have no account details, so there is zero risk if our server is compromised. If someone had complete access to our database, they would have nothing of value, but simply links to Steam profiles.

If you check the Steam forums, they even link to SteamGameSales from their Sticky post with nearly 2 million views regarding sales. It's another site I run with the exact same login system.

I'm curious SteamGifts, how is this funded? Whats paying your costs?

Right now the sites are just projects I personally develop and fund, and then we have a handful of moderators that donate their free time. SteamGameSales generates revenue through affiliate links (Direct2Drive, GamersGate, EA links are automatically tagged), and SteamGifts has a Google advertisement near the bottom of the homepage. I'm usually coding for other people the majority of the time, so it's nice to have freedom on my own projects. Plus, I get a kick out of people using a service that I created.

Don't forget to enter mine to, if you want Red Orchestra.
I'll toss up a little reminder about my own giveaway of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which you can enter here.

Five hours remaining. :)

Anyone got an invite code to spare? This sounds like fun. :)

Arkose: invite code to spare?
I'm not sure if it is active and you missed it, or if you tried it and it had been disabled, but:

SteamGifts: Hey GOG, I setup a quick invite code. I'll leave it active for a bit (...) Enter gog when the site asks for an invite

Steamgifts gave us an open invite. Just type "gog" as code (without quotes), and you should be good to go. :)
Oh, cool, thanks for that, I didn't see that. :D
