Hey,

I've recently joined Steam (completely for DX-HR and Skyrim) and there is a copy of things I quite like about it.
1. The Library (rather than making a shortcut folder)
2. The Shift+Tab internet thingy
3. Ease of patching games (especially that this can be turned off)
4. Time played stats etc...

Does anyone recommend a similar program for managing games for non Steam games? The bit I really like is the internet overview thing (I really can't think of what this is).

Regards

Karl
You can add non steam games to your Steam library. Just go to the Games tab (in the client), and select "Add non Steam games to my Library".

They can then be launched from the Steam client, and you can use the in game overlay thing.

Would this mean they are forever tied to steam?

Nope, Steam just tells Windows to run the game. It's no different from clicking on a shortcut on your desktop.
Wow, then is a completely useless post and somewhat quickly reduced to a steaming pile of non-googlelitous. Oh well, my brush with important was worth it.

Cheers everyone :)

In a blatant attempt to feel important let me tell you that some games will get messed up by the Steam in-game interface. So if you add your whole collection to it and you ever have an issue with a game, try launching it outside of Steam before you go crazy with other troubleshooting.
ut2004 doesn't work too well on steam. Steam won't let it get online.

Steam doesnt handle UT2004 multiplayer and also Steam dont work as firewall..... so you are wrong.

I have played a few games that refuse to work when the Steam overlay is present. Steam doesn't act as a firewall, but it confuses the game, so it doesn't work right.

If you've got the GOG copy then I take it you've got a serial from GOG support? If not then it's that which would stop you from going online with it. If you've got a serial then check your firewall settings and try setting it to Game Mode before playing. If your firewall doesn't have a game mode then... get a better firewall.

the game works fine on it's own. It only gave me this issue when i tried starting it using steam (i was playing with a buddy that has a steam version so i wanted to use steam for chatting)
