bansama: Off topic, but personally, when my children are teenagers and earning their own money I will be charging them rent. No way in hell I'm going to let my children continue eating all the food and using large amounts of electricity/water for free.
And ultimately, I need to prevent them from becoming "parasites" -- which actually is a fairly major problem in Japan. If they don't like it, they can move out =)

akwater: See that im ok with.
I paid rent based on my gross income from 14 to 16, something like 31% of my income went towards rent, another 10% went to food/water/power. So that had left me with a realistic outlook of how much money I really would have would I was older. Granted I didnt realize that until much later.
So yeah, i was pissed back then, but now, after actually having to pay for those things in the real world after taxes i am thankful i had that treatment.

How the hell did you get money back in the day?

Tarm: So is that good or bad?

Rohan15: Let me put it like this....
Would you like it if you worked 30 hour weeks part-time and not be able to spend a dime of your paycheck because your mother thinks that spending money on games that are not at full price a waste of money and she blows your paychecks on eating out at restaurants?

Steam: Helping the little guy with jerkoff parents.

Well, I'm actually about 5'6 when not hunching over. So, more like Steam: Helping the guy taller than his evil mother.

Same way I make money now :P Taking jobs no one wants, doing things that few people in the world would even think about doing.

Yeah but you probably didn't need flak jackets and intermittent car bombs didn't go off back then. Unless you lived in Detroit.

DelusionsBeta: Ultimately, it could be the first sign of Steam Gift Cards (iTunes and Amazon do it, after all). However, I've heard rumblings that microtransactions may appear in the Steamworks arsenal, and this could be paving the way for that.

I'm pretty sure that's it: microtransactions. So you can buy things directly in-game with a single click and not bother dragging every purchase of a $0.05 item through the usual banking procedures. Which makes sense, even though I'll still think microtransactions are evil.
I think I've read something about Steamworks and microtransactions in a Valve interview somewhere, no idea where.

1st class ticket to Australia, two week stay (min three star hotel) and....... um.... a guide to the local pubs and I'd do it :P
But as to the other thing on steam, we could if you could pass the checks,
