Hi,

would anyone in the U.S. be interested in gifting me the Grand Theft Auto Collection on Steam? It's discounted to $7.50 right now, so I would gift you any game on GOG for $10 in return. Let me know if you are interested.

Damuna: Have you signed up for GogPM? It's a user-created PM system, and it'll probably speed up any deals you make with other users.
Just signed up, thanks for the hint. In case you are interested, I'm offering the trade to anyone who can purchase the GTA collection from Steam (not sure if it's available in the UK). It's not available for purchase in Germany, so that's why I'm asking here.

Have you found anyone willing to help you out?

You can redeem and download it if you're in Germany? If so, I'll do it if you haven't gotten anyway yet.

Yeah, I went and did that after I posted.
If I wasn't broke this week i'da helped him out. Well I hope he gets what he wants at any rate.

He should be able to. As it's an already released game. Concerns about games not being playable generally only cover the newer ones where Valve are screwing around with local release dates (ie, leaving the game tagged as pre-release regardless of whether it's actually getting a release or not in that region in the future).

I got Dead Rising 2 on my german Steam account. So there is no problem with cross country gifting. If you got an american bank account or credit card, you can even do via VPN or proxy...

Yeah as I say, it's only been the newer games where these problems are starting to appear and then, primarily only when it's a Steamworks title.

So what with the GTA games being released ages ago, gifting and receiving them should be fine. I certainly received GTA 3 and 4 without issue.

I got DR 2 on release day (I don't know if it was a worldwide release or just the US one). But I know there is no official release in Germany. So I guess we can narrow it down to Steamworks titles.

Btw, gfwl didn't gave me any problems what so ever, I even bought Gears of War via an irish vpn from the MS Marketplace (before the relaunch).

Oh, and I have heard (yet never tried), you can get your account in germany registered as an US account (with dollars and everything), if you can convince steam support that you are an american serviceman living in Germany. But I never tried that, so it just might be BS ...

Yeah, I've never had a problem with GFWL in that sense. My copy of Dead Rising 2 I got from GamersGate unlocked on the US release date no problems and that didn't get a local PC release to the best of my knowledge.

As for your second comment, I've heard several people mention that Valve can lock the store to your billing address region. Although I'm not sure if they still offer such a service. Not that I'd use it. If I were to ever get a US billing address, etc., I'd just make a new account and then gift to my current one and use a US VPN, etc. to "unlock" the games...
