ErekoseDM: what kind of DRM can i look forwards to with Dragon Age Origins?
i read about needing a bioware account but also that all the DLCs download in batch along with the installer, so possibly conflicting information.
As far as I know, even if you have the DLCs installed, you will not be able to use them unless you are connected to a Bioware account that has them redeemed.

Note that I'm using the Origin version, I don't know if there are any differences between them.

I have Steam version and can confirm what you said. The core game runs fine "offline", DLCs require EA authorization each time.

When I played the game, I just had to do the one time registration for the DLC. My gaming computer doesn't have an internet connection and everything worked fine for me, but I had a retail copy.

I really love it how anything seems to go with Steam games regarding DRM. You'll live and learn, after the purchase. Maybe they should start selling games that require an OnLive account next.

it seems a miss on all fronts.
sad to see even trying to score a physical copy is the same bs.
id have to hunt for random 'special' files just to get it to work without phoning home which defeats the point of getting the collection.

Someone help me with something.

I ended up getting Civ 5 for free a while back and never got around to playing it.

However now that Brave New World is out and the reviews have been almost all positive and saying how it's "fixed" what Civ 5 lacked, I kind of want to get it and it's 30% off (21 bucks and some change) on gmg.

However I am wondering, on Steam there's a Civ 5 "gold" pack which includes all the DLC and Gods and Kings expansion for 12 bucks.

Is this worth it?

Could I just skip the DLC stuff and get Gods and Kings for 7.49 instead or will I be missing out on a lot of stuff without all those "Cradle of civilization" dlc's? (What are those exactly?).

Not really,you wont be missing a lot of stuff,those are only civiliizations and scenarios related to those civilizations

The only DLC's that are really worth it are the civilizations. The rest if there for extra goodies, but aren't essential by any means.

Get G&K, and BNW and you're pretty much set. Grab the five Civ DLC's whenever afterwards.

Everybody and their mom has a spare copy, work out a trade. Yes, HL2 is worth it, IMO HL1 is only really worth playing to see how much Valve has learned since the 90's.
