Sigh. I was hoping for a very deep discount on CS:GO, and now I'm on the fence. -50% and it still doesn't have Linux support (though it will probably work fine through Wine).
Question about regionalized/censored versions:

Steam only sells censored versions of "Half Life 2" here in Germany.

a) If someone from elsewhere buys the game directly for my account, which version will I get?

b) If someone trades me a Steam Gift of the uncensored version and I redeem it from a German IP, which version will I get?

c) If someone trades me a Steam key of the uncensored version and I redeem it from a German IP, which version will I get?

Any information would be most welcome. :)

synfresh: Here is a pretty decent article on the contest and how it's getting rigged by Reddit.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/06/24/how-the-internet-tried-to-rig-the-steam-summer-sale-and-how-valve-is-trying-to-stop-them/

I still don't understand people complaining about price points or discounts. A vast majority of the sales that I've seen are at the lowest point those products have been sold at no matter who the distributor was. That Rayman example is a good one, you've never seen that game at 9.99 before.
But a lot of the games in the Steam Summer Sale have been cheaper before in the weekly sales.

Just two examples but there are many more if you look carefully:

Pat & Mat - 0.99€ was 0.49€ in a weekly sale
Bad Rats - 0.99€ was 0.39€ in a weekly sale

So i can understand that many people (myself included) are disappointed about at least a few games in the Summer Sale.

Don't. Fantards aside, VALVe's annual sales have been underwhelming for the past several years, but this one has just been garbage. Bethshitta in particular has been incredibly stingy, but even they've discounted higher profile games with arguably more content than VALVe has done here. A friend gifted me a copy of C-S:GO last year, it was going for slightly over $5 at the time and it wasn't during one of their annual sales, but a free weekend...
There was a community choice bundle on the first day I think that had Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition for 75% off for £4.75. But ofc, the other bundle won the vote. :(
Apart from that one game, the rest of the offerings have been meh for me.
Although I did pick up the Mass Effect Collection on impulse a couple of days ago. A lot of the AAA games of the past decade have passed me by because I didn't have a PS3 or XBox and I didn't play games on my PC.
Also, I have a funny habit of developing migraines whenever I look at a first person perspective game. I don't even have to play it, I just have to watch video or someone playing a game for five minutes, and bam! Instant migraine for the next two days. *Whimper*
*All* FPS's are out for me, but funnily enough, if I go slooooowly, and only play in short bursts, I can play third person action shooters like Mass Effect. I did avoid anything that even smacked of having fast action just in case it triggered a migraine, hence the whole avoiding the PC game scene for a decade.;) But I'm actually enjoying Mass Effect so far, a good story, and I can shoot things!
So, GOG has been good for me. I get classic games I can actually play for good prices! *Happy*

I hope this is alright to post here and if not and it gets deleted, no worries! But I wanted to let people know that right now Bundlestars is offering SpaceCHEM Steam keys absolutely free. All you need to do is click the link and "like" PC Gamer on Facebook, give them your email and voila, you will get a Steam key shortly thereafter.

Not directly Sale related, but Valiant Hearts was released on the Russian Steam today...with an error in the price. It was supposed to be 699 rubles (~15€): instead it was at first sold at 6,99 rubles (~0.15€) for a little while.

Goes without saying that every Russian and their mother bought lots of copies for trading. They are now being sold at relatively low prices on Steamtrades (I got one by trading Sid Meier's Pirates Gift to a copy: cost me 2.49€ and half of that was even Steam Wallet I had got from cards). So, if you're interested in the game, go find a salesman on that site. You can save lots of money AND give Ubisoft the middle finger while doing so!

Hmm, that's motion sickness you seem to describe, I experience the same in car as a passenger, and a few FPS games with "head bobbing", like STALKER and Serious Sam games.. Cold sweat, migraine, negative anxiety up to panic attack if I don't take measures immediately.. Yours is very serious if every FPS view triggers migraine.. Sorry for you.. :(

Edit : Thanks, @Ragnarblackmane for the link, got my copy of SpaceChem! :)

Yeah, things like the newer Fallout games or Halo, Crysis, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Bioshock, System Shock 2, etc. are forever locked to me. :(

Aie.. I know it's quite a weird advice, unusual but maybe effective, maybe some pills can help to avoid the sickness, if they don't sell too high in drugstores, and carry little to no side effects. for you to play the games of your interest?

Nope, pills don't help. :(
I've just had to resign myself to not playing, and look with longing to the left or right of people playing those games. :P

Not a biggie but there is a game deals thread for this sort of thing. This was already announced there.
Damn it, Sega! You finally decide to put something on sale, and you don't even discount its DLC! Or it's predecessor! Or anything!!!

From what I'm reading, they even changed people's previously-uncensored versions, once some new laws hit around 2010. I used to think it was possible to do, but now I'm not so sure :(

Then again, this might be of use:

Hmmm, How to Survive and Brothers look really interesting.

And i'm REALLY tempted to get FFXIV. I'm not a huge fan of MMOs, but i've heard some great things about it and i really like the Final Fantasy series.
