P1na: If the game is good, I want it here, If it's not good, I don't want to see it here. Leaving aside the matter of who's judging as such, my stance is as simple as that.
Pheace: Hard to leave that aside when it's the whole point isn't it? :) I wouldn't touch a "game" like Surgeon Simulator with a 10-foot pole, yet apparently tons of people thought it was worth buying.

Well, the developers kind of asked for it. I am all in for violent games, because I think that as long as it doesn't hurt anybody, be as gory as you like. I wouldn't mind a game that allows you to kill children or puppys (not kittens, as I am a cat guy xD), rape dead bodies or whatever. As long as it is virtual and properly labeled, so parents can decide if they want to let their children play it, do whatever you like. I do not think a "clean mind" gets corrupted because of games. If you play a X game you aren't going to be more X, let X be sexism, nazism, racism, violence, drugs, rape, whatever.
But this game asks to be censored, because it has been marketed for shock value. There are lots of violent games, most more violent than this, but it was marketed as the chaotic evil simulator, even if they did not include children of animals. Under my eyes, the idea was good but they fucked it up trying to feed on controversy (and failing to really create it, executions of pedestrians aside) and giving a too serious aspect to a game which would have benefitted so much about a self mockery point of view. IMO, they just created an emo simulator 2015, and even if I would have liked to play it, I did not like the setting at all.
Luckily, this will make the developers to consider GOG and we will be able to play the game, as putting the stupid main character and theme aside, seems like a bloody fun game.

Yeah, I did. Still haven't tried it though. I wouldn't touch a "game" like Surgeon Simulator with a 10-foot pole, yet apparently tons of people thought it was worth buying.
It's not the only point. There seems to be a lot of people who want it because it's the goriest, or want to ban it because it's the goriest. I haven't heard much discussing about the quality of the game itself.
There was actually a surprising amount of people liking Daikatana on the forums. Still have to try it myself.

Word on the street is the comments were filled with such wonderful things such as "I can't wait to kill all the niggers, jews, women, children and muslims" in some form or another.
Then some people are speculating the whole "Dev is linked to neo-nazism" is playing a part too.
So, looking at it from Valve's perspective, I suppose its not hard to see why their alarm went off.
Just speculation, of course.

Yes in fact, you are right and I just misunderstood ; I thought you were referring to the free-speech/censor aspect of things. It's completely fine indeed, I think, for a US company to just dump potential court-case material seeing the costs and randomness of things over there.

Zurkon: I dunno, I like the idea of GOG also carrying historically important games, even if bad... Daikatana.

Of course it is. There are creatures who attempt to pass as people who don't like chocolate, after all.
Unless we're talking Deus Ex, that game is objectively awesome, and any who don't like it are objectively stupid. Because I say so.

I think the main difference is in Postal you are not required to shoot the civilians, only the police shooting at you. Whereas in Hatred your objective is to slaughter everyone. Hatred has muted tones and a very "high school edgy" character. Postal retained its color, and the Postal Dude was a "am I crazy or is everyone else crazy" kind of person.
It shares similarities but they are not exactly the same, and considering RWS is a publisher on Steam already, Postal HD is more likely to be released no problem.
Sucks for the devs of Hatred, but, imo they advertised this game poorly.
