Both have its advantages. Where is the both button.

Both for me.

Primary focus on indie games. Also serves as a download hub for "mods that are their own game" (is there a word for that? Like Black Mesa for Half Life, or these Amnesia mods).

edit: Given their completely different focuses, it's pretty meaningless to choose one of the other, imo. So here's another "both."

Out of those two, it's Steam for me. Desura insist on showing me prices in JPY while charging in USD. I refuse to purchase from any site that does that as they never show an accurate price.

The other main feature of Desura is that they use a client, but almost all of their games as an alternate DRM free download if you prefer that.

In my experience, they do what GOG did until the court ruling forced them to use geolocation based on IP addresses. Basically, tell Desura you live in America and you have prices in Dollars. Works for IndieRoyales too if you're logged in with your Desura account.
