i feel comfortable posting this because these games aren't likely to end up on gog anytime soon
HOLY CRAP steam just went up ten points in my book (and i was never a hater)
this is far and away the best sale i've ever seen on steam, it even rivals some of gog's promos
audiosurf, everyday shooter, blueberry garden, gish, braid, mr robot, crayon physics deluxe, darwinia, the path, world of goo
all for $30--that's $3 a game, and i know that several of these games are better than most $50 blockbuster AAA titles that come out these days
who's getting it? i know i am.
Well, I'm broke, and I've already got Braid and World of Goo (both if which I didn't like that much), so for the moment I'll just utter a pensive meh!
Would have been cool if I didn't already own...
Audiosurf
Gish
Braid
Mr. Robot
World of Goo
Would have been cool if I could have at least gifted the ones I already owned to a friend.

I played the demo of Braid. I found it hilarious.
Seriously, call me stupid, but I NEVER heard of those. Any of them.
Its a shame they haven't done the sale for each individual title I only want 2(audiosurf and world of goo) of them and possibly a 3rd{the path) just to see what its about.

I bought it without trying it on an Impulse sale, because of the hype amongst people with generally similar game taste as mine. I was bored to tears, and annoyed by the music.

The Path is messed up. You have to find the wolves for the girls, which can be a literal wolf, or a human that rapes her. You heard me. You lead girls to be sexually violated. And they call that artistic...
But Audiosurf is only $10, so pick that up. Also, World of Goo is worth every penny you pay for it.

I knew the path had adult themes, I guess it depends how they present the rape in the game. It got alot of hype and praise so its something I wanted to see but without a demo I don't want to spend alot of money on it.
Audio surf is something I might pay $5 for as I would only play it very rarely. As for world of goo I loved the Demo but they want £17 for it. It's a fun little puzzle game but I don't think its worth that much.

I thought the puzzling was okay, but not strong enough to really hook me into buying it. I'd go into why exactly I found the game so simultaneously revolting and amusing, but that would probably end in a massive argument. :/

There is a demo. Look on the game's Steam page.

I'm actually really interested in hearing what you thought of the game. While I really liked the art, music and concept, I just couldn't get any of the puzzle pieces besides the really easy ones they lay out for you in plain view. I really want to beat it, though, because everyone I've talked to says that the ending is absolutely insane. I may just FAQ my way through it, but that takes the jolt out of the game.
Also, I found the world menu's "story" to be extremely pretentious. It seemed like it was pretending to say something eloquent, but didn't have any depth to it.

LOL, not quite. Have you actually played it? It's a metaphorical riff on Red Riding Hood, though there are definitely sexual undertones and I suppose you could easily interpret as relating to molestation of some sort. It's ambiguous and hardly a rape simulator or something. It could just as easily be interpreted as a psychoanalytic bildungsroman. There's lots of existential anxiety.
You do know this is the company that made the graveyard sim, right? They make very bizarre games. They're pretty much fantastic, but not for everyone. Caveat Emptor.
Some people will emphatically hate "The Path" (in fact, I'd say most), but that's not because it's bad, it's because you're a philistine. It does some interesting things with narrative. Whether it's a game is debatable, too.
So far, I really love "The Path". I got it in that sale yesterday on D2D along w/Zeno Clash (which is really great btw) It is vaguely reminiscent of Rule of Rose and American McGee's Alice filtered through performance art.

This IS a great bargain. I don't know if I'm ever going to PLAY all of these games ("The Path" looks creepy, and I don't like creepy...), but the package as a whole looks worth the price...
woah, that is some esoteric shit cioran
i guess i need to install the path now
Hmmm, The Steam sale is undoubtedly a better deal, but the D2D sale actually allows you to own some of these titles without DRM...
