Following on last years Steam Holiday Sale 2011 thread by Kabuto, it'll be good to focus the sales and discussion in a separate thread so the rest of the GOG-ers won't have to be annoyed by all the Steam related discussion every time they open the Gaming Deals thread :)

The Sales Start and End date were originally leaked on the Dev Blog of Secret of the Magic Crystals. The Midweek madness of this week is ending early, he was right about the Autumn sale, and the developer packs are rolling into the registry. It looks like the sale is upon us. Let's try and keep the discussion about the sale here :)
just can't resist sales.. muuust nottttt buuuyyy more games that I don't want :)

Only been on steam for about four months and have already filled up my steam games library with about 120 games
I wonder if there will be sale achievements again.

Anyway, things I might pick up:

Super Hexagon
Thomas Was Alone (I keep hearing really good things about it)
Puzzle Quest 2 (if it goes on sale)
Chaos on Deponia

Then the best thing to remember. Don't buy anything till the last day, unless it comes up in a daily sale before then :)

I'll be disappointed if there aren't any, I won Morrowind last year and started playing Psychonaughts for the cheevs and stayed for the awesome!

That would be very bad news for my wallet!
The thing is with the potential Steam winter/xmas sale this year, Amazon and other digital stores have already had their sales in full swing for a while now. And in good number of cases especially with Amazon's discounts, your highly unlikely to get a lower price via Steam sales for certain games (unless Steam throws in the odd 80-90% off ie TW Shogun titles). Will be interesting to see what happens....

I don't buy games on Steam unless they're not available in retail stores without crazy DRM or at GOG. So the only game I'm planning to buy during this Steam sale is Torchlight II (two copies, for my brother and myself).
I can't think of many games I'd like to buy from Steam this time... maybe Spec Ops: The Line, if the price goes well under 5€. I think it dipped below that already once in GreenManGaming, but I barely missed that deal. Who cares, I can always get it even cheaper by just waiting, I'm not in a hurry to increase my DRM games backlog.

And maybe Titan Quest expansion (or Gold edition) if it can be had for an euro or two, or some Saints Row 3 Complete DLC Pack for some dirt cheap prize, just to make the versions I got from the Humble THQ Bundle complete.

Not much this time I guess, but let's see. At least I will be passing all the stupid achievement games this time, as last time I didn't seem to get any free games or extra discounts for all the activities I completed. I just got some stupid virtual badge to show all my friends "Hey look what a total nerd I am! I visited the Steam Summer Sale pages every day! Woohoo, now I'll be getting laid for sure!".

120? Give me a shout when you reach 700. I have 690 (923 according to steam but it counts dlc so it's really 690) most I have played for some minutes, some are not even installed (4 hds and still I lack space) and some I did not even touch yet and probably never will and some I clocked over one hundred ours in.

I like to have all the options I can available to me. More often than not I found true gems in those games I've never thought I would play. The problem lies with time and desire. I lack those two nowadays.

Same here.. not enough time for games now days..

That's a big number 690... how long have you been using steam?

I've spent a large amount of what I'd saved for the steam sale on gog xP So I don't anticipate buying very much this time, but I'm looking forward to whatever activity they're going to do.

The sad part is I'm not even proud of this number. =)
As for how long I've been using steam: 3 years give or take.
They might have dirt cheap deals during the Steam sale, but I won't be interested. My backlog is still sizable enough so I'm only adding a few more games here, which aren't available there anyway, to my library, and that'll be pretty much it for me this Christmas. In fact, I'm expecting to be be spending more on games for others than myself this year.

Amazon is off-limits for me because they don't want my money unless I willingly lie about living in US, plus I have the Bioshock games already.

But the Getgamesgo offer seems ok, it is indeed 4.99€ in there, so under the limit I am willing to pay for the DRM version of the game at the moment. Thanks, I might go with that, especially if it yields Valve less money than buying it directly from Steam.
