Per some posts in the LOTRO forums, mods were saying you could buy the LOTRO starter pack, get the code and apply it to your LOTRO account without needing STEAM. later they said you would need the client to get the code, but you would not have to install or play via the client.

So, I threw steam on a throwaway MAC and created a dummy account and made the purchase. LOTRO does not show up in my library. I go to it in the store and it shows I own it. I click the "play" button, and it says I'm using the wrong platform. End of story. It won't give me the code unless I install it and I don't have a PC to install it on. The code gets applied directly to my LOTRO account... all I need or even want is the code.

Is anyone aware of a way to get the code either with my mac client that I installed and logged in on... or via the web site that I log in to... or via email that sent me confirmation to? Thanks for any help or ideas.

I've used steam twice in my life and had horrible experiences both times :(

Nice. Thanks. Was hoping there was a menu or something I was missing as this setup seems very bizarre... but this should work just fine. (I'm now officially mad at my brain for not thinking of that).
