Seems unethical for one company's forum to allow the bashing of another. Each company has its strengths and weaknesses. Competition keeps the price down and the quality up.

Not always true. I've asked several developers about their Steam pricing and some of them have stated that Valve rejected their initial price points and "suggested (pronounced: strong-armed them into)" a higher price point.

Well obviously as you live in the US. Anyone in the rest of the world with tell a different story. Modern Warfare 2 is going for €59.99 at the moment which is equal to $88.55 but of course it's actually $59.99 in the US. Retail will be €10 cheaper than Steam.

what's hilarious is that there will be a lot of people who "buy" those titles on Steam, who KNOW that GOG has them, and that they would OWN the titles purchased from GOG. SO apparently, renting games for $20 is better than owning for $12.
It was the same with the Fallout games on Steam, people are branded so well that the little icon showing up in their steam account is worth paying 60% more for a rental.
I have a large steam account, and despite my dislike of them, I do admit that I have gotten incredible deals on my games. Some of my favorite games on the service I got for less than $5, and have put near 100 hours into.
The value of my steam account compared to the amount of titles I have, and the retail price of those titles is staggering. I have paid less than $1000, and I have 131 games.

It's fine that it's more expensive there. People can just buy it here. Problem solved.

This forum is somewhat unique in that it actually does not remove posts that can be perceived as negative to GOG itself. From what I've heard, trying that on Steam leads to very negative consequences. GOG is fairly laissez-faire in their attitude to forum posts made by non-employees, a fact which many of us appreciate (even when the threads aren't something we necessarily agree with or find silly or even potentially insulting). GOG appears to have the sense to winnow the wheat from the chaff and use negative forum posts about themselves to figure out how to improve their own service.
