Speaking of different definitions, here's an interesting note: Wikipedia lists Macrovision in their table of DRM technologies and associated devices. Macrovision is an analog copy protection used on VHS tapes - so how could it possibly be an example of digital rights management?

Lucibel: New terminology needed - arg?

Henceforth, DRM will be split into the following terms:
"Bad stuff" -- Represented by meanface >=[
"Okay stuff" -- Represented by indifferentface =|
SecuROM might be a 2.5/5 >=[ based on these new ASPCA standards.

melchiz: Rather than tell me I'm wrong, please demonstrate the flaws in my overall argument.
Also, please address the issue of Windows Live Essentials.

I adressed a very specific question of yours regarding gog and DRM and in case that answer wans't clear, i'll say it again: Even with a forced downloader gog would still be drm free, since the way i use my gog products wouldn't change a bit.
Windows Essentials
Can i buy products through the 'Live Essentials' apps ? If i can, then maybe talking about those apps and how they impact the way i use the products i bought via 'Live Essentials' or whatever that crapware is called would be relevant somehow, otherwise...
Overall Argument
Which is what exactly ?

Program A does xyz, but is DRM
Program B does xyz, but is not DRM
How is that possible? It does not matter if a purchase is involved. Your personal investment in a product does not change its nature.
With GOG I can purchase a game, download it only once and then install it on as many of my computers as I want, whenever I want, without needing to install any additional programs, get any sort of authorization or even have an internet connection.
Can I do that with Impulse?

No. You can't do that with a lawn mower either. Is a lawn mower DRM?

What does a lawn mower have to do with anything? I was just asking a simple question...

With an argument like that, you've either given up or something in your brain has popped.

Please elaborate. I feel that it was an appropriate response given the conversation and his attempt to disregard the arguments presented on the previous pages.
Oh come on, melchiz. You're going to tell me that a subject appropriate response to a DRM question is to compare the quibbles of various online retailers with lawn care equipment?
Seriously, you need to grow a thicker skin. People apparently disagree with your take on things...suck it up and deal with it. Welcome to the real world, skippy.

I'm going to go watch Twilight and cry in a corner.
ok once lawnmowers are brought into the conversation I think it's safe to say that this argument is turning into sheer stupidity
