CaptainGyro: Relax. I said the example I used was a logical fallacy, so it shouldn't be taken seriously.
Tell you the truth I don't even know if your position is good or bad.I don't know much about securom.
Maybe I got the wrong idea about you at first, but t the "ahhh insults" comments seemed smug and condescending to me .

Ah, I apologize if it was due to misunderstanding. I don't intend to be smug. My goal is to keep criticisms relevant and civil. I have found that many online arguments become personal without a need for such a shift. I could have the same disagreements with friends, in person, and we would remain friends. Online, however, objections are generally hostile.
Humor, which normally defuses hostility in real-life encounters, is especially fragile in these online arguments. Because it is more difficult to remove hostility in this environment, I prefer to discourage its growth. Personal attacks make enemies of us all and fail to progress our debates.

melchiz: Namely, I don't take kindly to dishonesty and pseudointellectual bullying.
Of course, defending myself from such internet tough-guys generally results in opportunistic pile-on responses (see "b"ansama's addition above your post) from those I have challenged in the past.

Well then, let the childish bickering commence... er, continue. Oh well, I tried.
Nope not trolling and yes $45 is high and Exaggerated but it is a point you all refuse to look at in the name of common sense its coming if the PC community does not fight DRM and Steam like systems... People will pay higher amounts for entertainment if they push it higher even WoW could raise 20% and ppl would still pay it rather then lose there accounts...
Pretty sure you guys are a little dense to understand exaggerated stuff to see a point...

Sure, some DRM like TAGES is terrible. We know that. We're not saying that we WANT DRM, but your views on DRM are completely misguided and make no sense whatsoever. Your idea of Steam as some sort of conspiracy theory is baseless FUD, and it is utterly laughable here. Hence why we think you're trolling.
But if you're not trolling, then I apologize. But please, take some pills.

Ok Steam is so wonderful to you but if it ever goes down you can’t play a single game you bought from them... DRM, SecurSteam whatever you want to call it.. You like steam good waste your money because it will go out of business like many other companies have in the past...
If it’s more then a simple CD key I am against it that’s all that is needed IMO and I wont buy a game with then that...

Yes, I like Steam. Regarding many companies that are going out of business... it's like Microsoft. Oh wait...

Company that likes to screw its customers over while piling shitloads of DRM on their stuff and fucking over GFW users? Why yes, yes it is. :P
Oh thank you! You just admitted steam is crap...
What I mean by MS not being the same is ms can go outa biz and your OS would still work for years after

Based on your accusations on Steam, I'm comparing it to MIcrosoft. DURR. How dare you question my love for Steam?!
Yeah, about that MS thing. Trying buying your OS online. Or try buying a game on GFW Live. Good luck with saving your games.

Totally agree with your point here, which is why I abandoned my old Steam account for a new one and had just Valve games finally transferred to it. However tempting offers are, I'm only going to buy Valve games as they're the only company with a real investment in Steam.
I don't think you're going to change the minds of people who have bigger collections of games on Steam though. It's like environmentalists telling people to give up their cars and go on public transport instead. Not gonna happen.

1) No he didn't admit Steam was crap, his comment was about the company running it and not the application itself.
2) If Microsoft go out of business then your Windows operating system will continue to work, yes, but what if you want to format and re-install? Oh wait, where are the online authentication servers? Gone, cause MS is out of business. What about authentication by phone? Oh wait, gone, cause MS is out of business. This means that if MS go out of business then your operating system becomes a time bomb, because as soon as something bad happens that means you need to re-install, you have no OS.
As such, both of your statements are incorrect.

korell: As such, both of your statements are incorrect.

There are ways of reactivating Windows without using MS activation phone lines / internet services. Although I haven't found out what they are with Windows 7. Or if that's even still possible.
Plus, it's worth noting that latter OEM editions of XP (SP2 onwards) don't actually need online activation at all. So it's entirely possible that MS would release a patch that removed the need to activate in the unlikely event that they should go under.
Alternatively you could install via an image of a clean yet activated WIndows install.
So it's entirely possible that MS would release a patch that removed the need to activate in the unlikely event that they should go under.
Same can be said for Steam in the unlikely event that Valve go under too.
I find it best to fly by FlyByU's arguments.
