Is anyone here part of that beta program? Don't tell me anything that goes against the confidentiality agreement, but I'd like to know. I submitted an application a week ago, but it seems no beta for me.
I applied but have not received it yet either.
"Steam For Mac Launch Details Revealed"
;)
Still wondering if majority of Mac OSX past games will be patched to universal binaries...
There are a bunch of them that are still not functionning correctly on intel-based Macs.
I'm still not interested to use Steam on my Mac, though.

"Steam for the Mac Released"
and this
http://store.steampowered.com/freeportal/
First impressions by an idiot who doesn't grasp the idea of buying and downloading games on a Mac. When someone is freaking out because Steam pops up a relevant ad and is therefore spyware, or that the client starts up when you turn on your computer (HINT: IT'S IN SETTINGS) or the front page is a glorified Wordpress blog, you wonder why did Gabe give Steam to these ungrateful pricks.

"It changes my settings. It's not what I want, it's what the developers want."
The last complaint I'd ever expect to hear from a Mac owner...

I've been wondering, is the free copy of portal good forever? Or does Valve take it away after May 24?
I got Portal with Orange Box, so I can't try it.

You get to keep it after May 24th, but it's only free until then.
Nice to see the Steam Virus is mutating to a new host population. Beware!!

If you download it before the 24th, you have it permanently. There will be no charge to continue to play the game after the 24th. This was confirmed on the steam forums.
My steam account also shows it as Purchased for this account and acquisition method
complimentary. It's my understanding free weekends type deals show a timer. So its yours to own forever.

What got me going was that he said "right, it's installed" when the "Downloading..." bar is on the bottom of the window, and then is suprised when it doesn't start. That's just facepalm worthy.

He: I got an Adware!
Me: ¬¬
I don't now if the guy is really that slow or if he is faking it, for some youtube attention.

Once you click the purchase button, it stays forever in your library.
Here's a thread about it: [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/portal_is_free_for_pc_or_mac_until_may_24th

Yeah, probably he is that stupid...
I like some features of the UI, and dislike others. The download section on steam should be more apparent, more evidenced about when a download fails by flashing in a red glow, having a "CANCEL" this download button... and so on for other sections.
A quick shortcut for the "small mode" would be nice too.

Urgh.
That video has gained another 25,000 views in a matter of hours.
That guy's going to have a bit of a surprise when he signs back in...
