Are they in your steam account through the web service or just listed in the application?

Most likely you have installed these in Windows and steam is just listing the registered game shortcuts, same as the Windows game centre thing does.

That's what you get for using a system that you have allowed to scan your computer. Read the fine print. But don't worry about it Steam knows what is best for you. Just make sure to always stay connected to it and it will lead you to a happy place eventually.

That doesn't make any sense. I've never heard of Steam ever doing this. You can, of course, add application shortcuts to your steam game list, but you have to do it manually. Only way this happened is if someone else used your computer and did it for you...

Honestly it probably just took the links out of Games Explorer.

Since Games Explorer already does all the the spying, it would save them the trouble of doing it themselves.

Maybe someone close to you and your computer tried to make a prank on you...

It didn't scan your computer, the only way for what you describe to occur is you or someone using your computer adding those things from the 'Add a non-Steam game to my library' tab.

I know Desura's done that to me before, can't remember if it was something I told it to do or not, but it added Valve titles and some of my GOG games to my Desura library. I've never heard of Steam doing that, though. Sorry I couldn't be of help, but thought I'd chime in with my similar experience.

this happens only if in the past you had added your gog games to steam as using "add non steam game" since steam syncs all your steam settings in the cloud, whenever steam updates to a major version it restores all your previous shortcuts ,settings even if the games does not exist anymore , happened to me after a update last week , all the non steam games i had added year ago came back.

To prevent it from happening you can disable the cloud sync

I know Origin pulled similar shenanigans recently and there was an uproar about it. Personally, as long as it's optional and on an opt-in basis, I wouldn't find it such a bad thing, but the fact that Steam scanned your hard drive without your consent is worrying.
