Have you checked the "Top Sellers" on Steam's page yet? At the very bottom of the Top 10 is Modern Warfare 2. Now, that may not seem like a big deal, but if Killing Floor, Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins and Football Manager 2010 are ALL selling better than Modern Warfare 2, then you can see that PC gamers are actually taking somewhat of a stand against Activision's bullshit. Now, the numbers may go up as November 12 draws near, but seeing as it's actually dropped in standings instead of climbing, this may be showing that people may not buy many copies on the PC. Even the pricier Dragon Age: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition which is for $64.99 instead of $59.99 is selling better!

Yeah, PC gamers are only going to take so much "consolization" of our hobby before the revolution starts. I only play Call of Duty in single-player because I'm more into the RPG thing, but I canceled my pre-order in support of the boycott.

You forgot to metion that the Witcher is selling better than MW2. But it's on sale for $20 so that would be why.
Oh yeah, and Stalker for $5 is up there too.

So we have to keep hearing about the game even when there's clearly none of the great interest in it that we were lead to believe there should be?
I doubt I'd be interested in MW2 even if it wasn't an Activision game. MW wasn't really a game that inspired a sequel, in my opinion. Although the sniper mission was good.

It doesn't mean a great deal at this stage. Killing Floor is still riding from the free weekend, and Stalker and Witcher are only there due to the heavy price cuts.
Plus it's only been up for pre-order for about a week, and the chart there goes back several. The weekly charts show it at position five.

If you really can't be without MW2 yet don't want to be screwed by Activision www.g2play.net are selling the CD Key for €29.90. They are also hopeful the game will activate via Steam so no need to get a disc either.

I think every PC copy of MW2, even in retail, will require Steam. So no problems there.

I don't know what kind of crack Australian retails are smoking, but here in HK retail stores are selling preorders for the game for the low price of $40 (or $300 HKD). It's an unwritten rule that stores here can never sell PC games for more than $300 because that's not what people here are used to paying. So I'm getting it at retail.

Um... so Australians are having to pay $90 on Steam for a game that nobody intends to pay full price for?

The information shown on the top sellers list is not an indication of overall sales. It only tracks sales for the last 4 hours or so. Also, as there is no indication of the number of units sold; all that list tells you is that x number of games sold more than game y. So if say, TF2 sold 5 copies within the last 4 hours and MW2 only sold 1, TF2 will list higher. But overall, MW2 may have sold 10,000 more units than TF2 on that day -- the top sellers list won't tell you that.
Also, the list is filtered by region. Restricted games won't show in it; even if they are selling more than all the games shown in your region.

Really? I thought that Japan and Hong Kong and Asia in general share more or less the same region restrictions, but I can buy MW2 on Steam (not that I'd do that).
