Finally I got in! I finally managed to submit my application thing and it said It needed to scan my comp to see my specs. I clicked ok. R2 scans my computer for a second and BAM, sblue screen of death. What. The Crap. Can anyone explain why an internet scan gave my computer a fatal error?
that site is SCREWED UP
BSODs can't be caused by a website, its always a local computer problem. Probably a dodgy driver somewhere

A website using plugins to get access to the local computer can very much cause a BSOD when the plugin in question is badly written.

Quite true but then the website isn't exactly the fault, its the person who coded the piece of shit java applet (it wasn't any of them by the look of the company name in the install nag/prompt)
Even if I'm very tempted as a Star Wars fan, I think I will not subscribe for the test. I mean, in this kind of game, the most interesting aspect is the discovering of the game, and I'm sure it may be ruined by testing a non-final product.
For me, it's like watching movie making-ofs before going to see the movie. That's just my opinion.
if their ability to run a website is any indication of the quality of the game; the game is going to be SHIT.

Aliasalpha: Hmm, no "page unavailable" page is as cool as GOGs.

I seem to remember one 404 page which started with an apology, and then switched to:
West of House
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.
There is a small mailbox here.

... and it was fully playable. I only got a few turns in before I had to do some Real Work though.
(Edit: Found an example. Doesn't quite match my memory though)

For their defence, there's nothing wrong with their ability to run a website, it runs generally smoothy. A website being down is such situation is pretty much normal imo.
Even if it's said on the website that it will be not "first arrived, first choosen to test the game" there will always be dumb people who want to be THE first one, or just cannot wait a day or two.
That and "F5-bashing" people who don't help to see the site runs again quickly...
Well, a normal and typical MMO community in fact.

I was just playin' dowg.

Damn you. Now I'm hooked. Does this thing end? Is there a point to it?

Congrats, you've wasted 10 minutes of my life, then.
I still have NO idea how I got BSOD because of some R2 unit scanning me

My guess is that the java applet accesses the windows hardware reporting system in much the same way a game's system requirements check does only in this instance the java applet would be storing that informantion as temorary variables and squiting it back to the server for analysis. Any time something attempts to access the hardware of a system, there's the chance of a BSOD, I'm guessing there's some sloppy code in the java applet that your PC reacted badly to.
That or the R2 simply has malware installed
